What are YOUR favorite covers of Sports Illustrated?

I was inspired by the latest version of their cover for the NBA Finals:

It doesn't just have to be a cover that features your favorite team (My Sabres have only appeare on one S.I. cover, and that was in 1973, before I was born.)

Also, I can try and predict the favorite covers of some of you guys.

I have a lot of favorites, but two stick out in my mind:


1. Larry Bird- circa 1978-79? : My all-time favorite athlete in his Indiana State uniform surrounded by cheerleaders.

2. Nothing to do with Boston sports: Paul Westphal (who got traded from Phoenix to Seattle in the early 80's) in a Sonics uniform, twirling an umbrella above the caption: 'Swingin' in the rain". From some reason I always loved that cover.


And, of course, ANY swimsuit issue.

Yeah, duh the swimsuit issues. Used to collect them as a kid. Every February. I couldn't wait. There's an article from the mid 80's about satellite technology that I have saved. That's my favorite article.

I saved a few notable SI Covers that feature Cleveland players. I have them framed and in my office/sports den.

My favorite of course is the SI cover with LeBron as a Junior at SVSM High School in Akron!!.....

A few other "classic" Tennessee covers.

The Ernie and Bernie cover and the "Peerless" cover are up on the wall in just about every barber shop and hamburger dive in town.
