Hey guys I have something weird going on with my DirecTV HD channels. During the day My discovery HD and my HDNET movies will not come in. However at night they come in just fine. At night though my Espn HD and my Showtime do not come in, but during the day they do. I did not have this problem when I first got the satellite. When I called Directv they really didnt have an answer for me, but of course offered to send someone out to my house for 80 dollars. Does anybody have suggestions as to what is going on and how I can fix it.

Those channels are on seperate sats, so i doubt it is any kind of positioning issue.

Discovery, ESPN, HdnetMovies, SHOW HD are all on SAT C, HDnet, HBO, are on SAT B.

Maybe a temp sensative LNB? How is your system set up? Do you have a multiswitch?

but of course offered to send someone out to my house for 80 dollars

I think every single time someone talks about directv sending someone out they give a different price!! I am toldd $70 and $35, you are told $80, the next guy will be $68. What a load.

I have seen this happen with a failing multiswitch or if you have the signal split (LNB's require a direct connection) Can you tell us a little more about your setup, dish type, receivers # of LNB's etc?

I have a 3 lnb directv dish. I am using the Hughes htl-hd STB. on sat C I am getting about 50 % signal on transponder 8, but nothing on the rest. I am getting 80-90% on all transponders for sat A and sat B. I had thought of the overheating thing myself, but that does not explain why I am getting ESPN and Showtime during the day but not at night. I dont know what could be blocking the Satelllite as it worked when I first hooked it up about 3 months ago, plus it works at night. If we try to blame it on the LNB or multiswitch then I dont know why 2 of the channels work during the day but not at night and 2 of them dont work during the day but they do work at night.

You may certainly try to get a little better alignment and bump up your C signal. You do have your corners covered though, so it might just be a case of slightly adjusting elevation rather than tilt.
If your dish alignment was totally off your B would be the one very low or at zero, it is at 119 down and to the right of the others.

I would climb up on the ladder and have someone watch the signal meter and make very small elevation adjustments and then adjust the azimuth a little to try to hone in on C a bit more. Something has to be off a little to have good signal on A and B and very little on C.

I seem to remember someone else describing a similar problem. It ended up being a moisture/condensation issues (in the LNB, i think) where moisture would interfere with the switch in the LNB only at certain times of the day. What the solution was, I do not recall, but this may give you a point from which you can start your trouble shooting.
