I've had this problem on and off for years with my boxes seemingly losing satellite signal. One is a VIP222K and the other is a Joey.
Cut a long story short, if I disconnect and reconnect the satellite in coax cable from the back of the box the signal comes back. Sometimes I don't even get as far as removing it, just a couple of unscrew turns of the connector makes it start loading again. I have to do it for each box.
Today I called customer service and went through the usual power reset routine which didn't do anything. Then they had me remove and reattach the HDMI cable and the signal came back, but that makes no sense to me. The guy said the HDMI cable may be bad but I don't know what the relationship is between satellite in and HDMI out.
This seems to be mostly a summer time problem, not sure if that is a coincidence. Maybe something expands and a connection gets flaky, not sure. I just don't understand why a couple of turns of the coax cable makes the boxes suddenly find a signal. Once it works it usually stays up until the next day, then you have to go through the same routine again. Cables have been replaced and all that.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions regarding what the problem might be?
Thank you.
