The last couple of days have had problems with the site...pages stalling and not loading, link errors--click on a link and led to a different forum, etc., also clicking on a link and nothing happening. Other sites seem ok, like dbstalk :(

I get this same problem I have tracked it down to ads being served from "Burstnet" They seem to take forever to load and cause major lag.

Thanks :) The server itself is running fast as can be Page generated in 0.11771 seconds with 30 queries

Just when it loads that darn burstnet it sits for a few seconds loading :) And with vb until all content loads you cant do nothing :)

Yup I need to figure how to throw the ads shown into an iframe so that way everything loads and is not waiting for an outside server to serve us something.

and I thought it was just me... 26 minutes to load PUB page is TOOOOO long. Will paying the PUB ransom really get rid of the ads and REALLY speed up the loading time? I tried to go to the PUB sign up page but got locked up again. I am getting good infomation from the site so if it would speed this up it probably would be worth a reasonable cost. I forgot how much the blurb I read said it was and as I tried to go there from here and locked up.... Does Burst know where I was going and stopped me? :-}

edit / add
Well it took an hour to get PUB paid through this site then paypal but now I can get the pages loaded! and actually read the posts in a couple of minutes. So it is worth the price!

26 minutes?
I'd be gone in 2 minutes! :(

Typically, I see 3..5.. up to 10 seconds to go to a new page on this forum.
(yes I have fast DSL)
And that's way too long.
I've tried blocking burst.net, as I could see it as part of the problem... but haven't found satisfaction.

What!?:confused:Are you all on some sort of dialup connection? For me to change to another page takes about the same time to blink.

Yes, I am on a dial up connection -very slow (avg. 8kbps)- VIA a T-Mobile connection. I am also $18,000.00 from power lines. I am 104 miles from a TV station, on a high desert, surounded by HIGH mountains. We also have winds averaging from a low of 13 mph to a high of 60 mph, with gusts to over 100. I am not a hobbiest with satellite, my only reliable TV is via satellite. This website is my only source of getting the information I need to get more tv, when it goes down or slows down ---- well, I lose!

As my locations says, I live in a motor home (or 3) .. Home base is approximately N45.85 W120.58 @ 2200 ft above sea level.. My "last mile" of the internet connection is about 250 miles long with approximately (according to the ISP) a repeater every 5 miles. The tower I hit with the cell card is over 7 miles away - with less that a watt of RF power. Nearest neighbor, that could complain, 1/4 mile away. :up Are you jealous yet? :):):)
Four deer in the south yard, nearest tree is over 1/3 mile away..... Twenty acres to put up dishes ... 360 degree of sky at 25 degree elevation... Solar and wind for power, with 12 - 12volt batteries to store the power. Choice of at least 4 inverters to get AC ! Yep, on slow dial-up and happy with most of the isololation.:hatsoff:

Bustnet should have some one check for a Trojan Horse. I was getting one several times a day, blocked by a Boeing supplied firewall (--McCaffe enterprise. I'm retired but that is a benefit.) And I have not had a problem since I became a PUB member. Can not prove where they came from, but if they are having problems, too, it is something that could be checked. The < $20. is worth not having all the Google ads --- Which is really a suspected source ---.

I am not trying to be ugly or a know it all by any means. I started out with dial up but was very fortunate to get dsl where I presently live. I will probably go back to dial up when I go back to the country. However iIt is not the server.

Sounds ideal for wildblue satellite internet... Add another battery, you need another dish!
