Hi, I know that Wausau locals are on 121 (Superdish) but my friend said you can also get them with the Dish 500. Is that true?? If so how do you get them?? Do you have to call D* and have them change something ?? thanks!

CCarbo,

I'm down here in Madison and have recently had my SuperDish replaced (it had a failing "heat sensitive" LNB) with a Dish 1000 (I'm an HD package subscriber so I need it to receive content on 129).

At that time I had learned that locals (at least Madison's locals) were no longer on 121, but rather on 110, so a SuperDish was no longer needed. In essence, all you need for locals, is a Dish 500 aimed at 110 & 119.

I had confirmed this by looking up the Dish Local channels and their assigned satellites. With the exception (Eau Claire I think), all Wisconsin LILs are broadcasting from 110.

That said, should you be eventually looking at HD, you may just want to upgrade to the Dish 1000.

Regards,
Spence

Wausau is on 121 & 129 so you need a Dish 1000. They are the only WI locals not on 110

the rest are on 110 (Eau Claire, Madison, Milwaukee, Mpls/St Paul and Duluth/Superior)...and there is that one county that is in the Marquette, MI DMA that doesnt have locals at all :)

Spence, hey where did you look up the Local channels and satellite info ?

Wausau must be on 121 and 110 then. If a guys wanted to take down his Big superdish and put up the smaller Dish 500 I take it you have to call them and ask them to change it so you can receive them on 110? Correct ??

I would yield to IceBerg's advice. That man has "resources" that are unquestionable.

I was going by what my aging brain cells could recall.

Here is a link that has channels and the satellites that they are received on:

Wausau is in about the middle of the page. Sorry, I was very wrong. Wausau is a lone "outpost". ;)

Sorry I posted my last reply not knowing you replied already. Thanks for the info!

Iceberg, so down the road if a person gets a Dish1000 does Dish have to change something on their end so my account will get the locals from 129 ??
