A number of our Boston locals were upgraded to HD last night. That was a good thing. Unfortunately, it screws up the timers. They look OK at first glance in your list of timers, but they don't connect to anything. They do not appear in your schedule or on the EPG. You will need to replace them with new ones.

Our local CW switched to HD with the new satellite this week and that wasn't the case for us. We have had a timer scheduled for Arrow on CW SD all season. When Dish switched CW to HD they pulled the SD channel. This is normal for EA. I went to change the timer and I was surprised to see that my Hopper had already moved it to the HD channel on its own. It recorded correctly for me on the HD channel last night.

Maybe this was just a function of the Hopper. What receiver do you have? I just checked to make sure this wasn't a "seek and record" timer. It wasn't. It was just a normal timer set from selecting save series on the guide.

DANGER Will Robinson... made me think of that..... :)

good idea though to check the timers.

Mine didn't switch either. Probably because the SD channel was on 9249 and the HD one is on 5155. (Gee thanks Dish! It's Eastern Arc, so why not just re-use the number?)

But here's the part that I really don't understand. After setting timers for the new channel, I went back into the timer list to delete the timers for the old channel. I found the first program right away by looking through the list for SD channels, because there's only one other timer that I had on any other SD channel. When I went to look for the rest the same way, I couldn't find them at first -- there were no other timers without an HD icon. When I went back through it slower looking for the program name, I found that the rest of the timers for the channel in question, even though they weren't set to record any episodes, now sported an HD icon! If the point of using two different channel numbers was to avoid confusing the receivers (and I can't think of any other purpose it would've served), it looks like they failed...

Hopper with Sling new install...a couple of questions.
