I'll stop using the quick reply and see if the problem goes away...

Ok... well, I have the new reciever in place, and I noticed that some channels have decreased in quality by a few percent.. however, my readings are much more stable than they used to be.

For example, on The Tube, I am getting 70-72% signal, and a solid 40% quality.. it hasnt budged one percent either way..

Keep in mind, that I have very heavy cloud cover at the moment, and I am currently unable to move my dish to fine tune the signal.

Picture quality seems to be a bit better too.. I will have to hook up the Svideo to get a really good comparison.

I will have to paperclip the motor again, but my roommate is asleep at the moment (its his bedroom window that I have thru to get to the dishes

I was getting anywhere between 40 and 60 before.. its just odd that it hasnt moved from 40 in the 5 minutes I was watching it...

grr.. ok, this sucks.. must be a bunk motor.

reciever is in place, working fine, I setup the newest legal firmware on it, did a factory reset, went to the dish, motored it manually to AMC6 (truesouth) and paperclipped it.

One thing I noticed is... my truesouth should be 0.1E.. but it is most clearly W of center on my motor.. like 1.0 or 2.0W.. I would think that would screw up my arc, but it tracks alright.. (that is, when it moves)

I will say, that while paperclipping the motor, the light does not go back to green during the process.. only to orange, and stays there.

Alright, I am sick of this.. hah

PSB: you got yourself a PM, gonna order a motor and C-band lnb from you.

Odd... does the Fortec Star Lifetime (not Ultra) not have Blind/Power scan?

It looks like there is a way to load Pansat 2300a software on here.. does that have blindscan? I cant seem to find any reviews/specs for either of these.

Well, I answered my own question, the 2300a and Lifetime (non-Ultra) does not have blind/power scan..

I guess this is more motivation to fix my Pantec correctly.

In better news, I recieved my SG2100 from PSB yesterday, just installed it, and lo-and-behold, USALS works! friggin clone motor....

I noticed that most of the settings were quite different.. I should take some photos of the motors side by side

I think I am going to have to touch up my polar mount on my dish with some primer.. theres a few shiney spots where I have had to adjust the elevation several times.. same on the polemount from changing and adjusting the motor..

Now I just need to get a new DiSEqC switch, and I should be all good to go.. heck, I can even put up a second motorized dish now (albiet without USALS) then again, USALS has limited use, due to its non-preciseness (is that even a word?)

hmm.. this should mean I would be able to put that universal LNB back out there too...... hmmmmm...

Ok, now that the Franken-ciever lives again.. It was time to "finish" my system.

My Invacom showed up yesterday, threw that on the F* 80P, and the DMSI SG2100. did some fine tuning on the motor setup, now I am getting high 40s on G10R, and I am tracking the arc just fine from G10 to PAS9..

I think the next purchase will be a F* 90P, and then move the 80P to a permanent G10R position.

Then I have this Channel Master 1.2m dish to try to point at G3C for the AC3 version of The Tube on C-band..

All of the pieces are falling into place.. 4 dishes, 5 LNBs, and 3 recievers later ;)

I have run into a bit of a snag...

when I updated the software to the newest Pansat 2500a image, I seem to have lost the "bump" feature in DiSEqC 1.2... looks like the same with the Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra software...

Did they remove it? that was such a useful little feature.. I cant see any logical reason for them to remove it.

I also found out my arc is wrong, I have excelent signal (high 40s low 50s) on G10R, but I am only getting 20-30 on G3C and further east is dead.. looks like the azi is off a bit (too far east), and the dish elevation is a tad too high. So I guess I am gonna be redoing my aiming tomorrow morning..

Just had to take care of that exact problem here.
It seems like a pain, but oh how nice it is once it's fixed :D

That's really odd... that's the only reason I use 1.2, for the nudge feature.

I guess one of the images loaded on this box has changed it.. Its still there, just not its own line.. if you just touch left or right on movement for a second, it does a nudge, if you hold it, it does a move. not sure why it suddenly changed, even with the oldest firmware I can find, its like that now (2.24) unless I am smoking crack, and I am just imagining this function....

I played around with my motor, and I have the whole arc, but I lost a few quality points on my western sats by doing it, but at least I gained the eastern sats again..

Ok.. it looks like I have everything together.. Moved some stuff, and rewired my living room.. Replaced my 80P with a 90P.. I have some slight fine tuning to do, but all in all, its together.

stepped on pete?

The Laser printer is there, because its the most central location in the house.. when you live with 3 other computer geeks, you cant really put the printer in any one room ;) and of course, its the Dell 3100cn, which we bought for $329 shipped (cant go wrong with that!)

At this point, I dont think I can give up my Starchoice.. I actually dont even have my cable hooked up at the moment, and replaced it with the DSR500 Gotta love TMN and CBC

Very cool. I might have to break down and go with a broker.

Its definately worth it.. PM Iceberg, he has details on a good broker..

I just finished watching the Red Green show on CBC... Thats the best thing about *C, so many local feeds that you can always find something on.
