When my 921 was installed my local Dish outlet disconnected the 61.5 dish so I called Dish to have it re-installed so I could add the VOOM programing. The installer replaced my legacy LNBs with Dish Pro stuff and put in a DPP34 switch. This seemed to work but after the installer left, I noticed that the guide did not completely populate. It had a lot of no informations listed. I was not overly concerned at the time as the installer was late and I had a Derby party to attend.
I returned home several hours later and the guide had still not populated so I unplugged the 921 to reset it and after the 921 booted back up I did a switch test. NO SWITCH FOUND! After several tries and a call to Dish and talking with a competent and friendly CSR, he determined that the problem was most likely the switch so they are sending the techs back out to fix it. My question is, does the DPP34 work correctly with the 921 or should I insist on a DPP44? It seems that I recall reading somewhere that there is a known but with the 921 and certain switches. Either I read that or I had one to many mint juleps at the party. ;^)

Thanks,

Richard

First, no such thing as DPP34, just DP34. Second, a DP34 works just fine with the 921.
So I guess I stutter type and added the extra p. :^)
I just wanted to be sure when Dish come back to check things out. I actually got it going again by taking a broom handle and reached up to tap on the switch. I thought that if there was an actual electro mechanical switch and not just electronic switching it might work. If not, I guess it must be just a bad connection to the switch and tapping made it re-connect.

Also, the guide info may come overnight. Weirdness sometimes happens on Day 1 of a channel or software upgrade. Try the next morning and see if things have improved.......

It turned out that the DP34 was bad because as soon as the new switch was put in place the channels all populated extremely quickly. Also, the VOOM channels were taking between 7 and 15 seconds to appear after being selected with the old switch but after the new switch, they popped up almost imediately when selected! So far, everything is just fine now.
