VIP722k Remote Signal

I have the VIP722K dual dvr and I am pretty sure there was no problem when the technician initially set it up (over a year ago). I rarely used the 2nd tv (in the basement) so my issue didn't bother me too much. Now I've decided to use it more often.

The problem: the TV2 remote only seems to work when I am about 10-15 in front of the receiver. I am trying to use the remote directly below the receiver. I've changed the batteries a couple times and the receiver was recently reset. The receiver is sitting on a very open tv stand.

The remote antenna may be loose or there could be something causing interference with the signal.

Garys is right on the money. Make sure the antenna is straight up and down and tight, if it continues after that or that doesn't seem to be a problem you can try hooking a pigtail up to the receiver. Just use a 6-10 foot piece of coax and a barrel connector replace the antenna on the back of receiver with the coax and hook the antenna to the barrel connector on the other end of the coax.

Thanks! I'll give that a try once I get the connector. Heck I could probably get the antenna down into the basement.
