vip622 hard drive replacement

hi,
i'm trying to help my buddy repair his vip622 hard drive....he purchased a used receiver with a dead hard drive and wants to replace it so i was wondering if it is possible and if so , where do i begin???? the message that it gives is error code 0521 and that there is a problem with the hard drive....he has already pulled the hard drive out of the unit so i don't think dishnetwork will replace it


any help would be great
