Hello All, I am a newbie to the dish network and am seeking some advise. I have a ViP 211k reciever as part of my home install (in a shop building next to the house) connected to a Turbo HD 500 antenna. I am considering a diy project at a fishing cabin, installing the dish myself, and hauling the 211 reciever back and forth between the shop and the cabin. Understanding that the 211 and the antenna is designed for HD reception, I am curious if this reciever will function for SD only with a different model antenna... I have a DishPro Plus antenna with the digital LNBF not being used in my garage and would like to use it to save some money on the install, if it's possible. I am not too concerned about recieving HD at the cabin since I only have an older tv I am using there.

Regards, John

Never heard of a Turbo HD 500 antenna. It likely has a DishPro Plus twin on it, just like the one you are proposing to use at your cabin. So... Assuming you are receiving the signal from the satellites at 110/119 only, and assuming you can align your spare antenna yourself, then you will get all of the same channels at the cabin that you get at home.

Caveat 1: You might have a wing dish at home pointed at 129 or 61.5. In this case, leaving off that part of your home installation will result in loss of numerous HD channels only available on 129 or 61.5.

Caveat 2: If your cabin is very far away from your home, you might be out of the spotbeam for your locals.
