Right, those are the old rules, and it has been that way for a long time. I think the question (and it is a valid point) is whether the rules have changed now that ViP DVR activations are no longer being allowed. In other words, if you have a ViP DVR, and you want to add a Hopper, then you would be forced to remove the ViP. Before, that was fine, since you always had the option to switch back to the ViP if you were dis-satisfied with the Hopper. But now, the ViP could not be reactivated. So, if you don't like the Hopper, then what are you supposed to do? Wally uses the same interface as Hopper, so that is not an answer, either. So, given the change in rules regarding ViP DVR activation, perhaps existing ViP DVR users should be allowed to stay grandfathered, and add newer equipment as desired, instead of being forced to remove equipment that can no longer be reactivated.
