April 1st is always the release date for new hardware .
I find it interesting that you quoted this post:I don’t think the VIP 211s are going anywhere right now. I kinda expect they will go sometime in 2019.
blatimer, you do realize that ViP211 also does not have a red recording light. On that note, ewindowman (and navychop for that matter) would be disappointed with the Hopper Duo for the same reason.I called and spoke to a senior tech rep he was very nice and informative. He said that they are fazing out the old receivers but if they are already on your account there will be no issues switching them on and off . I explained I own a HWS and a 622 and 922 and sometimes need certain receivers on . He double checked and said I will have no problem at all with them. I hope he is right. If not then it will be time to upgrade. ( I sure will miss that little red light )

There was a post on the tech portal, that of course I can't find now, that said as of 1/15 no more VIP new Connects
I read somewhere under the section called Hopper 3 on here that Hopper 4 may be coming out in April. Could this be true?
Very likely, since they've almost got all the bugs out of the Hopper 3.
The more pertinent question is what features will be removed from the Hopper 4 that the Hopper 3 has. What features will Hopper 4 have that Hopper 3 doesn’t have?
Hopper Duo is Hopper 4. (2 satellite tuners + 2 (optional) OTA tuners = 4 tuners total, so "Hopper 4") For the next version, Dish will skip straight to Hopper 5. (Tagline: "Hopper 5, alive!")I should note that I was speaking facetiously about a hypothetical situation. I don't believe anything about a Hopper 4.
No, but you'll need an iPhone 9 to use it with the dish anywhere app. Will it run on Windows 9?
I wouldn’t put too much thought into that. Even if he was correct now, that could very well change next month. I think a more reasonable answer would be “as of now, and this can change at a moments notice”.
Do the hoppers and Wally’s have the ability to allow for more compression to allow dish to free up channel capacity?
Scott says a lot of things about the Hopper 4 AKA Vapor 4....I thought I remember Scott saying that with a Hopper 4 you could add the apps of your choice to it. Like Amazon or Hulu etc.

Isn’t it going to be called the Hopper Blue?
