I have three basic question that I hope to get a quick answer.

1. What are the pros and cons regarding buying or leasing this DVR?

2. Can this be used as a DVR for non-dish applications. I believe I saw a thread that you could DVR OTA programming. Would it work on a Direct TV service, or in a cable application?

3. Is there a configuration that would work on a VHF/UHF PAL B/G television system used in much of the world or does it only work on NTSC.

1) Not much difference. The monthly fees are the same for either. If you buy you can resell when you are done with dish. If you lease you have less up front cost.

2) No, it must be connected to Dish

3) No.
