ViP 622 & 722 Running Bug Thread

The OTA channels are not available on TV2 so how did you set the timer using TV2?
It's a two-step process. First, create a manual event with a low channel number, say 101, and the time of what you want to record. After you've saved the manual timer, go back and edit it. You'll find that your local ATSC channels are now available below the 101 channel. Pick the appropriate channel, save it, and you're done.

I gave it a try and no go. In fact, when I go in to edit the timer no channels below 100 show up for me.

OTA ONLY records on Sat tuner TV1. You can view it on Output TV2 by starting a recording and viewing it on output TV2.

REMEMBER tuners and outputs are not the same, the 622 has 3 tuners (TV1 SAT, TV1 OTA and TV2 SAT) and two outputs TV1 and TV2. They should have used different nomenclature to avoid confusion, but...

Almost right Jim, OTA doesn't recored on Sat tuner TV1 it records on the OTA tuner that is also designated by the TV1 icon on the guide and the light.

I should point out I'm in Dual mode, not Single mode, on my ViP622. I don't know if that makes a difference.

In "Single Mode", there is no TV2 (physically). Now, there's also a "Shared view" option and as I understand it, TV1 and TV2 see the same output (??). In that case, you could see the OTA channels, should be able to set timers for OTA channels, etc, etc from TV2.

I'm in dual mode as well and can't do what you are saying. So when you go edit a timer you see channels like 004-1 and 011-1 available on your TV2?
Ah, the behavior is different than the 942. The locals are available at the high end of the channel list. Here's some cameraphone shots:

Okay, I'm sorry about that. My Motorola Phone Tools and my Razr stopped talking to each other halfway through transferring the pictures to my PC. I fixed the original post.

Basically, the first three pictures show the creation of the manual timer. The fourth one is editing the manual timer and changing the channel to 22-1, WSBT-HD. The fifth shot is the completed manual timer for 22-1, done from TV2 as can be seen in the top banner.

Well, I went in and tried it again. This time when editing the channel rather than scrolling through I just typed 9999 to get to the end of the list, and sure enough, there are all my OTA locals. Very interesting work around.

Thanks for following through on this for us and sorry for my doubts I had earlier.

I have a 942 and am adding (keeping 942 also) a 622 to be installed Wednesday. HDMI is imperative to my setup. I am not sure if this is where I should post this, but could anyone tell me if the HDMI failures are still out there?

Is there a thread for bugs that are sitting still?

It'd be nice to have a summary of the bugs on one page. This thread is too large to read. The one's I've experienced in the past two weeks of having the 622 are the following.....

1) Harddrive failure message during installation (bypass and ignored by install tech)
2) pause bug (jumps to live tv while pausing a "live" event). Workaround is the pressing the skip back 10 and then play.
3) lost audio during item 2 as well. Recovered by changing channels.
4) audio dropouts on digital connections (mainly HD programs - OTA, 94xx channels). Occurs when using digital toslink connector only. RCA seem to work.
5) screen goes to black occasionally when pausing an HD recorded show - doesn't show paused frame. The status bar at the bottom is still present.

My 942 has the restart DVR event when it hits a corrupt portion of a program. I haven't seen this on my 622 (yet).

Does anyone out there have a problem with receiving the St. Louis locals with a 1000+ dish and 622 combo? All the sats are getting 95-110 signal except the 118 where the HD locals are found. It only has from 9-39 % signal and will not even lock in on the locals most of the time. The 322 of course get the locals fine because it recieves them on the 110 sat. Any suggestions?

Trying to pick up 119 west
