ViP 622 & 722 Running Bug Thread

My wife keeps buzzing me on the intercom as I try to watch the Sharks tonight. She's watching an ep of ER she recorded and the 622 freezes then reboots. It came back on , resumed 1 minute before where it froze, and froze/rebooted at the same place in the recording.

We'd only had Dish for about 6 weeks.

From a Local ota or Lil?...

Every single recently recorded program experiences audio dropouts. And all my recordings, lately, have been from CBSHD, not any OTA stations. Annoying as hell, particularly the WAF.

Also, this week I had the corrupted hard disk message.

It would be nice if Dish even acknowledged that audio dropouts were still a problem and not totally resolved with 365.

I've been having this same problem all too frequently, especially with CBSHD. I've also had problems with other HD channels but I'm usually able to rewind to get the sound back. With CBSHD the sound completely drops out for seconds at a time. Anyone else having this issue???

Yep. I am. I kinda figured it was the receiver.

More E* screw-ups! Who would have thought?

My 622 seems to periodically slow down the picture almost like its in slow motion. I am also having a heck of a time getting my OTA's to lock in even though I have a signal of over 80%. I think I will need to be calling them and maybe swapping out my 622.

Audio Dropouts on TNT "Riddick" 11/28

Had a few (10-15) seconds of audio loss last night on TNT "Chronicles of Riddick," 9:00 pm PST showing. I was watching a DVR recording of it.

Yes. CBS (at least in L.A.) is a problem. Not only do I have the frequent sound drop-outs, when it does come back, it is out if sync with the picture by several seconds!

I have a Voom receiver for the OTA channels and I usually just switch to it -- it has no sound problems.

Watched Heroes last night that was recorded off of LIL 11/20. At the same time, other recordings were being made using up to all 3 tuners. About 5 minutes in, the unit froze. Soft reboot. Resume playback picked it up during the recap (about 2 minutes into the recording). Skipped to point where it froze and all was ok. Another minute and it froze again. Soft reboot. Resume playback at same spot as first time. Skip ahead again and play continues ok till about 5 minutes left. Froze a third time. This time, the resume point was around the 45 minute mark.

The reboots were especially painful as they interrupted other shows being recorded. I see only a coulpe others reporting this error. I guess I'll try a hard reboot.

Still L365 here.

Has anyone noticed the poor SD picture quality on the ViP622's TV2 output compared to the 942? I'm watching the Eagles-Panthers game on ESPN-HD (for some reason the 622 is recording OTA ATSC on TV2 and "Smallville" on TV1, even though I'm in Dual Mode and selected TV2 as preferred for recordings.) Anyway, the scaler appears to be having problems interlacing the 720p signal. I switched over to DVR playback mode watch "Smallville" and it looks as good as before. A small issue, but something that I've noticed.

I guess I need to read this thread from start to end to make sure I'm not going to repost something that's already been brought up.

OTA is recorded nominally on TV1 only. This is in addition to satellite TV1 recording. Sure would be less confusing if they called it TV0 or TV3 but only TV1 control can stop or start those recordings of OTA.

I suggested that the first day or two that I had my 622.... It's REAL confusing. I mean, if you set up (2) sat recordings and (1) OTA recording for the same time slot, then looked at it in the Timers list, it shows TV1 recording two things at once.

Dish should fix this with a software update. I agree it's confusing.

My 622 no longer has an accurate time left guide

On two occasions this week I scheduled two 1 hour HDTV shows for recording which a stated 2Hr 10 Min HD reserve and the second time with 2 Hr 25 min. HD reserve. It only recorded the second program as it erased the first one due to lack of disk space.

OK perhaps the first time was cutting it close but even being off by 10 minutes is high and the last time being off by 25 minutes is just too much.

I haven't had this problem in the past for the 622 or the 924.

I have the latest software up date.

:eureka

I had the same problem but I ma not sure but I thought at time it was not just the sound but also the picture. That is it seemed to jump ahead a frame or so every so often. I think I noticed it on different channels and it may have been all the same day. They all were prerecorded viewings but that’s why I got the 622. I have watched newer & older recordings, which did not seem to have this. I’m beginning to think I need a pen and note pad to keep tract of this problems.

With L365, I noticed that if I create a timer while on TV2, it marks the timer as preferring TV2, and if I create it from TV1, it marks it as TV1. I'm running in dual mode. My problem was my OTA timers were running on TV2, but I had satellite timers running at the same time, and they jumped to TV1, just the opposite of the way my 942 ordered things. I made sure the satellite timers had a higher priority than the OTA timer, but it din't work until I had deleted the OTA timer and re-created it via TV1.

The OTA channels are not available on TV2 so how did you set the timer using TV2?

Can anyone confirm this ?? Satellite recordings in progress show up in the DVR list, but OTA ones do not ?? I've noticed this more than once, but other times they've shown up properly (and we've started watching a recording, from the beginning, before it ended).

Everything shows up in the DVR list for me. In fact, I do a lot of OTA recording and after the program starts I begin watching on TV2 by accessing it, in progress, in the DVR list.
