Verdict on Free Channels Ala Nasa etc.

Downgraded to the HD only package and asked about the free channels that I read come with every package. Spoke to both a CSR and a Super and both claim you don't get these without a basic package? Is this true?

I believe you can get Public Interest channels free with any subscription. You might have to play CSR roulette.

My auto mechanic has a 10 year old Dish300 and unsubscribed receiver that he only uses to watch NASA.

So you definitely don't need a subscription to watch NASA channel (and in fact I happen to be watching it right now, coincidentally).

So do I...any receiver that has been activated, and since canceled, and still has an access card, will get NASA.
