Greetings, all ! I have a 10’ Unimesh dish that I recently acquired and finally got installed, and I am trying to work out what I need to do to use it.

It has a Chaparral C band feedhorn and LNB on it, but I don’t think the LNB is working, since I found the waveguide and feedhorn was full of water. I want to replace it anyway with a Co-Rotor II for C and Ku band since from what I can find, the Unimesh dish is usable for both given the mesh diameter.

What I am hitching on is what gear to use.. I have a GTmedia V8 DVB-S2/S2X reciever that I have used before on a 1.2m dish for Ku-band, and a Chaparral Monterey 100C that I have used in the past for C-band only on a 6’ fiberglass dish.

I know the ultimate answer is to replace the feedhorn with a dual-band like the Co-Rotor II and a DiSeqC 1.2 mover like a Primesat or similar, so I can just use the GTmedia and let it operate the mover, but sinking another $200 into this when I have the Chaparral 100C seems a bit of overkill.

The Monterey 100C moves the dish with ease, and I have serial port control of its operation, which is its big attraction to me keeping it around, but I am lost when it comes to powering the LNBs while getting the signal to the GTmedia; I assume a DiSeqC switch may be the answer but again, the logistics escape me.

Could I somehow connect the C and Ku LNB to a splitter or switch that feeds the Chaparral’s C and Ku inputs, as well as the single input on the GTmedia? Would I need some sort of diode or circuit to prevent backfeed of the LNB power or similar?

Maybe I could get dual feed C and Ku band LNBs, and connect one from each to the Chaparral and let it power the LNB while the other two go to a DiSeqC switch and let the GTmedia control which LNB it recieves from, while the Chaparral moves the jack manually.

Ideas? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a Primesat mover?

Yeah you can run your C and Ku feeds into a Disecq switch or 22khz switch and set up the receiver to switch the switch. Those primesat movers don't have a polarity switcher for the co rotor. So you'll need your analog receiver to do that.

I'd just use the analog receiver to move the dish and change polarity if your keeping the co rotor setup. I have a co rotor feed in my shed but I just us a Titanium LNBF on my 10' Unimesh and have other dishe(s) for Ku. I suppose I could modify my Primesat mover to run a co rotor but that sounds like a PITA

Also the GT media receiver will power the LNBs as long as they're hooked to the gt media receiver directly or through a Disecq/22khz switch, you'll want to use the analog receiver as a stand alone just hooked to the actuator/co rotor. The Primesat box will also pass thru power/signal to the LNBs if you decide to command it with your GT media receiver. Just remember the Primesat won't switch polarity on a co rotor
