It is a headsup arrangement to get the legacy people to get on the ball and upgrade to MPEG4 equipment. The channels in the 6200s can be seen on legacy equipment, but the originals cannot. The conversion to MPEG4 has not happened, yet. But, it will soon. And of course, there will be complaints from those who will claim they didn't know.

Perhaps, if it is repositioned. It will not get channels without the new smartcards. Part of EA is also located on 61.5 and soon 77, so the new 1000.4 dish is the way to get EA, but new subscribers only at this time.

Not special, just one of the new ones. Repoint will do no good without the smartcard.

Not exactly. You'll get a new card when your number comes up. Remember this is a New Subscriber service only, for the time being. Cards come in new receivers shipped recently.

I do have the Dish (just got it yesterday), but I do not have the smartcards necessary yet.

Don't wait, hook it up now so we will know what we can get without the new card. If you switch to the new card first, there's no way to tell the before and after. I've moved my dish three times because of the neighbor's trees and the sooner I can use Eastern Arc the better.

ok so if I have AT250 with HD and locals.... what's still on 110/119 that I can't get off EA birds? I get Buffalo locals HD and I think those are on 61.5 ... I'll have to look at the list again.

Ciel 2 will be launched to 129 in November and could be online by the end of the year - 4 months from now.

Currently there is a shortage of Dish 1000.4 for new installs in limited cities where it is authorized to be used.

So, it is unlikely to be available at retail for some time...

You're right... that's odd !

Why restrict new EA installs to a limited slate of cities (that leaves out cities whose HD locals are available on 61.5), when you have enough stock for retail outlets to sell ??

I think you also need the "minor" SD locals for a local package.
