Any update on CBS-HD West and the other LA major networks?

Major LA HD networks havent changed. Still mpeg2 on 129 in testing mode. Come early Jan I'll bet they get lit up for subscribers.

Thanks. It's easier for me to read it that way. So is GAMEPLAY gone?

I didn't include it in the list because JohnH said it was gone. That will actually be channel #15 (KNGFU is duplicated) if it's still there.

So far I still see it up there.

BTW, when they switched cbs-e to mirror the new NYC locals, the video format changed to 1280x720p. I hope they are still working on this, or it is an error in the information, because that would be pretty stupid to send cbs in 720p..

Gary or anyone else with the ability to tell, please confirm.

Yea, why would they be sending CBS at 720p. I guess I would rather see 720p than if they were going to put it at 1280x1080i.

Channel number changed sometime. Extra number left. Confused me. Sorry.

hey does anyone have the drivers cd for TWINIHAN 102a?? Red card.. I tryed installing drivers from the Twinihan websight and they are messed up... Windows does not want to reconize those drivers and I cant find my cd. If so pm me if you can zip it and send it to me. :)

Wait wait wait...as I read this, they only pulled 4 VOOMs off 61.5 and 6 off 129. And to make things more confusing, "Coda" was pulled off 61.5 but not 129.

What did I miss?

Finally got my card fixed :) Had to change PCI slots

Can anyone explain why ESPN2HD would be on 129/61.5 and NOT on 110?

Why would they add one channel to the "base" HD pack that you would have to get a second dish or D1000 for? The only good reason I can think of is that they are planning several more additions to the base pack and don't have room on 110 now. Will this change when E*10 goes up?

Brad

I think they are planning on putting all HD pack channels on 61.5/129. This would make since to me but I can't help but think as to what there are going to do with E*10's transponders.

I don't know why people think Echostar 10 will increase the number of national HD channels Dish can offer on their main sats. Having more transponders available is pretty meaningless since they're already broadcasting the maximum they're licensed for. In fact if the map here (http://ekb.dbstalk.com/297) is accurate they'll actually be cutting back on conus transponders to incease the number of spot beam markets receivable with a Dish 500.

(If I'm reading it correctly only 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are being used for spot beams on 110 now, but E10 will also use 12, 18, 20, 23, 25, 26, 27, 29, and 31.)

Those are possible TP allocations. As we see with R-1 right now, it CAN do a bunch of spots, but it is being used in CONUS mode currently.

There are 4 TPs on 110 currently that are CONUS and being used for locals. If these were moved off onto spots, it would free up 4 TPs at 110. This is assuming E10 services the geographical areas these spots are on and can reuse the existing 5 spot TPs in those areas.

However, had said that, I dont see more national HD on 110 in the future :). HD customers will either have a d1000 with national HD on 129, or a d500 + 61.5 with national HD on 61.5. I see E10 providing HD lil service from 110.

E*8 uses 5 frequencies for spots. Those spots will be replaced by E*10 which uses 10 frequencies for spots. The net result will be 5 less ConUS frequencies. The 4 mentioned above and an extra transponder many have wanted to be filled to the brim with HD.

No space available at 110 for more national HD, unless one would accept Lite HD-Lite.

BTW: The new HD in Mpeg4 is beginning to look more like a fact than a rumor.

By "new" HD, do you mean stuff launched after the voom 5 and espn2? The voom5 and espn2hd are mpeg2 currently on both sats..

Help me with something here.

When E* uplinks to a bird, lets say 110, does it uplink each a) channel (doubtful) b) Transponder (more likely but questionable) or c) a larger block with the uplink.

I figured it was (c) because there really is no other way that I can logically explain why HBO-HD, SHO-HD and Discovery-HD would have such wildly different bitrates at different times. If these transponders were sharing a number of other SD channels I could see it possibily, but as they are not, it doesn't make much sense why the bitrates would vary so much.

But then again, between last weekend and then the last 12 hours where HDNET and HDNET Movies are freezing up on Transponder 7 where nothing else exists, it seems as if they would have an uplink for each transponder and in this case the feed to TP7 is hosed....again.

But if that is the case, why the bitrates would vary with the other HD channels mentioned above really makes no sense - as i could see them cutting back if more than one transponder was fed from a single uplink.

Anyone know for sure?

As much as I like to know the uplinks from bob anyone else here feel its a double edged sword :). Its like wow thanks for letting me know im this close to getting more channels but just not quite :) I too am really pissed with hdnet locking up. Was watching goonies last night a good family movie and kept locking up was pissing me off
