HGHDs picture quality is not as good as it was. Seems not to have as much contrast or resolution- punch. Anyone else noticing this? If they are going to give us MPEG4 it had better be as good as the MPEG2 or we'll all be going back to cable. The OTA MPEG4 locals aren't quite there yet either, hopefully their new encoders will get the job done.

Probably already been asked and answered, somewhere here, but what the heck happened with the HD RSNs? The talk months ago seemed to indicate we'd have them by now, any more info on why we don't?

There is a game in the EPG scheduled on a RSN HD for tonight, but it doesnt seem like the channels are available to subscribers yet. I can only guess they had some hardware/software problems, either that, or the monkeys in the control room went on strike

Unfortunately, there have been games in EPG on the RSN HD channels before to no avail. The latest rumor was that the HD RSN's might go live last night...obviously that didn't happen so now we're back to the waiting game.

They are for the HD OTA EPG.

People who receive these local channels via antenna using a 622 or other HD receiver can now see the HD channel and the sub-channel guide in the guide.

How often is this uplink stuff done ?? Once a week (it seems) or daily or can it vary ??

Can someone compile a list of locals that have gotten their OTA guide data ??

I wonder if they'll try and get this done before the next Charlie Chat ?? Last one they were confused by the question about this and gave a wrong answer.

Hall,

The "big" uplink day is Wednesday usually between 2 and 4 pm eastern time. This is when most channels are made available or new channels are uplinked.

Apart from that there can be activity at any time, but the other "predictable" times
are:

Every morning for NBA, NHL, MLB package channels to align with the proper SKDL channel carrying the game of the day.

Friday/Saturday mornings for the weekend sports alternates and PPV channels
Some Monday mornings to reset the channels back after the weekends sometimes

Thursday early morning for occassional MAJOR overhauling of allignments and testing new things (like MPEG 4 tps, etc).

WSRE 23-2 Pensacola Junior College PBS SD (*not* the same as WSRE 7357. There are errors in the data as provided from station)

WHBR 33-1 (same as WHBR 7358)
