And you are connected via HDMI cable? If so, and all your settings are correct, I'd have to say you are either too picky, as you said, or your TV.

Yes, I'm connected via HDMI...the tv looks great on Amazon instant vid. Must be me. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts.
 
Actually, go to 480P let the box set to that, then go back go to 1080I or 720P. It has happened that even though the box says 1080I it isn't and this usually fixes it.
Also, are you looking at output 1? Output 2 is not an HD output.

Gave it a try, didn't notice a difference. Maybe it's a compression issue with my Locals... I am on output 1
