My brother-in-law currently has 2 receivers and wants to upgrade to a dvr in one room. What's the best way for him to go about doing that? He got a different answer each time he called CS. Does he need to speak to anyone special? Thanks for the info.

If he wants SD, then I'd go with the 522/625. If he is eligible, he can Dish It Up with a 522 for $100.00 and he'd have a chance of getting a 625 since many areas no longer stock the 522.
also look on ebay for a 522 or 625 then he would own the reciever instead of leasing otherwise the above comment is a good option.
Or, if he REALLY doesn't care about dual-tuners (but he should), then grab a 501 or 508 off of eBay. No DVR fee.
