I have 2 receivers, one mine, one Dish's. I need to add another TV so it will either be me getting another receiver, getting another Dish receiver or maybe going to Hopper. I would like to know what my options are if someone can help me out on this. I have been a Dish customer for almost 20 years.

You don't save a thing by buying your own receiver, just the ability to turn it off when you don't need it and ability to sell it later. That said, I'd go for a Hopper 3 and 2 Joeys. As a 20 year customer, I'd bet that you'd get them for free. Not knowing what receivers you have right now, I can't tell you how much extra that would cost you, monthly, but what you will get out of it will amaze you.

Exrta monthly would pretty much be a deal breaker, they already hit me for $106.95 a month. That's enough. On top of that I've lost MAVtv, CBS and WGN. Direct has made the offer of lifetime free DVR to switch plus the standard cheap rate for 6 months before they rape you.

If you are saying you want to add third room for no more cost that what you now pay, well don't we all... :)

Any other provider will give you a deal as a new subscriber. With the equipment you now have because I am assuming it isn't a Hopper system, going to Directv or just about any other provider will cost MUCH more a month, after the promo period if you stay with a similar package after switching.

You don't say what you need in the third room. You don't say which VIP receivers you have now but the cost to add a three tuner (Two satellite and one over the air) DVR Vip 612 is $10 a month, a 211 is $7. The 211 is not a DVR and has one tuner, but it becomes one if you add your own hard drive. If you don't already have a 211 there is a one time $40 charge to add the ability of an external hard drive or you can use it as is with one tuner.

There are other alternatives, such as does all three rooms have be able to watch something different? If not there are other alternatives that may or may not cost money. Can you run a connection from one of the existing rooms to one of the other existing rooms? Would you make use out of a Slingbox?

I would not dismiss a Hopper with two joeys as a possible solution, talk to DIRT here and get an actual price and what they will do for you with the different options.

I have 2 211 receivers right now and no hard drives currently. So what you are telling me is that if I opt to go to Hopper for 3 tv's, I can expect what maybe another $10, $20 dollars a month?

Your cheapest option would be another 211 for an additional $7 per month. You would pay a total of $14 in fees for 3 211s.

If one of your TVs is SD, then a 722 plus a 211 could feed 3 TVs and would cost $10 DVR fee and $7 for the 211 = $17

Hopper3 and 2 Joeys would run $29/month

With all 211s, you obviously haven't had DVR capabilities. If you don't want to have a DVR, or don't think you would use the DVR features, then the Hopper/Joey setup would be a bit of overkill.

Tampa8, how do I get in tough with DIRT?

I'm not Tampa, but you can go back to the main forum page, and look on the left at the "Helpers Online Now" section. DIRT members are listed in red. You can click on their username, then click "Start a Conversation" to send them a message. Looks like LailaS@DISH is online right now.

Thanks, I would like to see what my options are. I have no idea what I'll do. Seems foolish to pay so much when out of all the channels I get we only watch a few but have to pay for 250 just to get those.

Have you checked out the Flex Plan? There is also Welcome Pack and Smart Pack for much less. Maybe they would have the few channels you watch.
