Updated DirecTV HD Locals Launch Schedule: November->March (And PBS Launches)

I agree with you ramy. We need our locals in HD first. I live in flatwoods and the locals in sd are very tough to watch after watching HD. Especially after watching ballgames in HD.

WTTV has been available in HD for a long time. I'm not sure of when DirecTV started carrying it, but it's been a while.

I guess they had not reached an agreement with ABC yet.

Why would they have to have an agreement when their already showing the same channel in sd? Also what about PBS in Tally?

All stations (local and national) have the right to negotiate their HD and SD feeds seperately.

Whether it is a local ABC, or a national like AMC or WGN, DirecTV has to have a contract for the HD channel too, which usually means more money to the channel provider.

PBS HD turned on for Cleveland

WVIZ is now in HD on DirecTV. WVIZ's OTA digital signal is at a temporary facility which sends its signal to a very small area, so its nice that those of us without cable can finally see the channel.

• WPBA Atlanta
• WVIZ Cleveland
• KHNE Lincoln
• KYNE Omaha

Here in Jackson, TN .. we were told back in 2003 that our local ABC affiliate WBBJ would be on direct tv soon.... well we are coming up on 2009 ... So when ever direct tv says "Soon" that only means not this year !!!

There isn't one, I was just trying to keep the local launches in the same place.

The good sign is that they've been adding 5-8 a week for 3 weeks now, lets hope it stays consistent

DirecTV added PBS HD locals in 5 markets today:

Atlanta, GA
Baltimore, MD
Cleveland, OH
Omaha, NE
Savannah, GA

and FOX HD in Lincoln, NE

hey Jason any word on when we're getting the rest of the Flint/Saginaw digital subchannels? WBSF technically is a digital subchannel since its on WEYI-DT2, so is the WDCQ PBS channel since its on WDCQ-DT2 (DT1 is MHz World View)
