I am looking for an HDD enclosure that does RAID 0+1 (which means minimum of 4 drives) W/ SATA II internal interface and USB external…..

Anyone have a recommendation?

So, is it safe to say at least initially, that if you have to get a replacement receiver, you're screwed with the content on the external drive??

I think you would be alright on that would be my thoughts...

Agreed, since it will work on any 622 in your house, the data is mostlikely tied via account number, stored on the smartcard (which can be changed by DISH). So I'd say all would be OK!

Edit: Well its not a card anymore, but embeded securty chip, whatever you want to call it, that thing

In this capacity does 0+1 gain you anything other than double $$$ / GB of storage?

I think that the Buffalo Drive Station Quattro is about it at this time. I don't know of any others that are USB equipped for access to the array.

That is the closest but it does not do 0+1 but it does do 5.

Dish doesn't use jumps as the numbers are unique for ALL models in the serie ( xxxP, Pxxx, Lxxx, Mxxx ).

Just received my new LaCie 500G hard drive from Amazon. It came pre-formatted FAT 32. Should I connect it to my PC and re-format to NTFS prior to connecting it to the 622?? Anyone know for sure? Scott, can you find out for us?

What features were added between L401 and L404 or L405 ?? Basically, none. Minor increase in version # typically means bug fixes. L440 should be including fairly major changes, i.e. external drive support, IP Callback. Before that, going from L365 to L401 including the HD mapdown feature addition, among other things.

Do nothing.... or, delete the existing partitions.... It will NOT use FAT32 nor NTFS. It will use Dish's own format that you can't create with a PC.
