Update a Tivo through a cell phone?

I've done a search and I'm either doing it wrong or I get a lot of wrong hits....

I've got a Cingular tethering plan for my laptop, in other words I use my phone for a modem. Is there a way I can update my TIVO through the laptop?

What kind of TiVo, standalone or DirecTV-integrated?

It's a Direct TV unit, one HD, one standard.

I'm not absolutely certain, but I don't think you can do updates on an integrated unit through broadband or a serial PPP connection. But the places to find out for certain would be either tivocommunity forum or dealdatabase.

Are you using your phone as a broadband connection or a true dial-up connection?

Wel.....it's a Cingular 3G connection. Most of the time I connect faster than a DSL line

If you got an eithernet connection on your laptop you should be able to setup some sort of DHCP server and connect that way!
