UHF Remote only works in dual mode???

IR remote works great. UHF remote does not operate the receiver unless it is in dual mode. What gives? I've tried rebooting the receiver via holding the power button. Problem continues. I did not think to test dual mode until I saw that I could temporarily change the remote settings via system info screen and hitting the record button. The changes would not take though.

Any suggestions?

NOTE: The remote settings match the receiver which can be verified via the remote working when in dual mode.

after much frustration and attempts to remedy, (sys info - record etc) i pulled the card and re-inserted a few times. after the system came back, everything works fine now.
