I have never taken my H3 apart. But on older receivers, you could attach a SATA (and power) cable from the new receiver to the old disk without breaking any seals. Then you could use the new H3 to copy to an EHD, and once done, unhook the old disk and transfer the programs from the EHD back to the new H3.
