touchscreen remote compatibility?

I just got my RCU1010RF remote from RCA today & it refuses to learn any IR codes from the dish remote. I have the 522 system (yes I am using the TV 1 IR- remote (I even verified it is transmiting IR with my camcorder)

The remote will learn from all my other devices, but it refuses to learn the DISH DVR remote... Anyone have any experience with this (or solutions for that matter)

I just spent a few bucks on this remote & will be very dissapointed if I am unable to use it.

Doesn't it have a preset device code (195) that maps the keys correctly for a Dish DVR? Or, are you already doing that, but trying to add a missing function or two?

actually it was a missing function or 10

Mapping the keys for different remotes requires different "tactics". While the DVR mapping requires you to hold the key for a long period to map it, it seems other devices like my Sony reciever require a quick key-press to learn the IR code.

It's really kinda goofy :/
