TOUCHDOWN JESUS 2-0 IN MICHIGAN TROUNCE

I'm with Paul on this one. If Michigan isn't showing vast signs of improvement next year, then R-Rod will have to answer some serious questions.

Tressel made it work after 2 years. Hell, the Bucks won the National Championship in just his second year at reign.

I can remember like yesterday during his introduction as the new head coach, Tressel said these famous words: "I can assure you that you will be proud of your young people in the classroom, in the community and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on the football field."

Needless to say, the fans were instantly sold!

I have confidence that this year will still be Ok, not great but OK....But yes I expect better things next year

Good thing he did so- Yes, they beat Michigan, but it wasn't all perfect- they lost to a bad UCLA team, Illinois, were on the wrong end of Joe Pa passing Bear Bryant's win record and a heartbreaking last-second Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina.

I thought the Illinois lost might have angered some Buckeye fans.

You're talking the first year The Sweater Vest was the coach, in 2001 right? Remember the first year, coaches get a pass. ;)

What happened to Michigan State being so tough??? I don't care which you are a fan of, but if you cannot see that ND beat themselves today, then I don't know what game you were watching! 2 interceptions, 2 missed f/g's = beating ourselves!

Whatever gets you through the night...

Once again, I come to the ND-PU match-up next weekend a confused fan. I grew up in the shadow of the Golden Dome (just on the other side of the Toll Road off of Juniper Road) but became a Boilermaker when I attended West Lafayette in the late 1970s. Of course, when I was at Purdue, the football team wasn't much to speak of, so staying an Irish fan for the ND games was easy.

Now that I've married a fellow Boilermaker (and inherited a family full of fellow Boilermakers!) I have changed my tune. I root for the Black and Gold, not the Blue and Gold, when the two teams meet.

This year, I don't know who will win. It all depends on which teams show up. For Purdue, if the Defense that played the first half of the Oregon game comes, Purdue has a chance. If the Painter offense from the first game delivers, they'll eat up the Irish pass defense. Likewise, if the Irish can play the same (or better) as they did against Michigan and parts of the Michigan State game, then can beat the Boilers. IF they don't turn the ball over! That goes for both sides, obviously.

BTW, you may see some of my coworker's family in a specialty shirt just for this game: One the front, it says, "Boiler Up!" "Irish Down!" and on the back, it says, "I'd rather have a Painter than a Pickle at Quarterback." :D

Looked to me that MSU's Defense and Ringer running won the game, not ND falling apart.
2 interceptions and a leaky D sounds like what you have there that caused the Irish loss.
Give just a little credit to the team that you could not beat, will ya.

Just watched the ND-Michigan game and except for Coach Weis' torn MCL and ACL, things are looking GREAT!

Defense took away the ball 6 times from Michigan and Clausen showed glimpses of what Weis has been talking about for the past year; mind you, glimpses, but he is still young!

Can we run the table for the season finale against USC . . . ?

So in this game, michigan did not beat themselves,ND beat them....But in the State/ND game, ND beat themselves????

I will give MSU their props. They had a good game plan (part of which was pressuring Clausen) and running Ringer down our throat.

On the ND boards they are calling for Charlies head but nearly all of them picked this as a loss in the beggining of the year so I dont see what they have to bitch about. We have plenty of work to do. Mainly O-line and run D but I can't see how we won't be a power next year and certainly the year after. The ND nation needs to chill.

Congrats MSU!

satjay we took away the ball 6 times, how is that Michigan beating themselves? in the STATE game, we threw interceptions and missed key field goals; if those field goals were made, we have a different game . . .

John Walsh I should take away your avatar (lol) for agreeing with naysayers and giving props. . . I agree we need some work, but we let that game go and for all those who predicted it as a loss, it was not a game we rolled over in

You could never take it away... it's with me until the day I die....tat on my shoulder..

So in this game, michigan did not beat themselves,ND beat them....But in the State/ND game, ND beat themselves????

I thought the same thing as I read through these posts! I thought Michigan outplayed n.d. except in the forced / unforced turnover category!

Michigan game-Michigan had turn overs, thus they lost....I dont have an issue with that as turnovers are part of the game. If you turn the ball over with the kickoff fumbles and such.....You will lose especailly when you give a football team the great field position ND had. I am not going to say if they did not fumble...it would be different, becouse its part of the game.

Just t as I think you have to give state credit. ND turned the ball over, MSU took advantage of that and won......
