Agreed. The conversion seems to really have helped ESPN when it comes to mosquito noise and compression artifacts. To me ESPN on Dish was terrible for NBA games and is now watchable.

And wait a minute, I almost sense a positive comment about Dish PQ from ehren.

Yeah well they will screw it up again, next thing we will see is 8 channels per transponder and more ways to cram HD into oblivion. Wow I just gave Dish engineers a lightbulb idea.

In a continued serious vein, the improved quality is noticable. It actually seems to be approaching the quality level of some of the Voom channels (before they left us).

I am very surprised at the improvement in quality a 30 or 40% increase in bit level provides, Mpeg2 to Mpeg4. (And yes, I recognize it is due to the improved compression of Mpeg4 over Mpeg2.) What causes my surprise is I didn't think my TV would pick up the difference!
