Top Spending Schools on Football

I was trying to find what TCU spends on football versus LSU to see if there is a chance Gary Patterson will bolt to Baton Rouge if Miles leaves, and I found this link. Pretty interesting...TCU seems to be right up there with some of the elite programs in the country.

Don't forget, they're an old member of the SouthWest Conference, considered one of the big boys before it disbanded. Just because a team isn't in a BCS conference, doesn't mean it doesn't take football seriously.

Of couse the opposite is true. A certain SEC team in Nashville barely does anything with it's "football" team. ;)

A word of warning. These figures are not "normalized", meaning that what is to be reported is strictly defined by the government. Different schools will define differently what is to be charged to the athletic versus the general school budget. In many states the schools want to be perceived as "self-supporting" and they will acomplish this by making the accounting trick / assumption that every piece of infastructure is just "free" (paid by the taxpayers and tuition payers) and not athletic spending. Same with travel, player health care, training, lots of things.
