It was the module itself. After removing it, the receiver is not even warm on the module side. Before, it was rather warm to the touch after the module begin acting up.
The overwhelming majority of posters have indicated that their MT2 module felt warm, at best, to the touch. Now that you have posted that your MT2 feels hot to the touch suggests (at least to me) a need to replace your MT2 module.

What did Dish do when you called them with the facts?

BTW even though the cap may test as w/in tolerance if it is bulging it should be changed. A bulging cap is a sign that the electrolytic fluid is drying up and may under load be a problem. If by chance it is passing some AC due to drying it will make it heat up and start to damage components in it. Replace it anyway they are very cheap.
