Timer Question

UPDATE: Maybe I just need to be more patient with the few all-channels timers I have. I mentioned in my first post that episodes of other programs beyond next Thursday's episode of Under The Dome were already scheduled. The episode of Under The Dome airing next week on WSBK My38 is now noted with the orange icon. So... I guess it works properly, just a day or so longer. I bet most DVR users would never check that far in advance so it would never be noticed.
I'm curious, did you happen to look in the guide that far out to see if it was actually IN the guide at the time you checked the To Do list, often times a Recording doesn't show up till within a week of the Record date, usually a bit more, but not always.

The guide normally goes out for up to 14 days, sometimes its 12 others 14, but when you get a software update it takes time for the guide to repopulate outside of the first 3 days, which are usually done right away.

I'm just wondering if that might have been what happened.

it has nothing to do with the "other site" when DIRECTV started doing they home brew DVR, they could not use Season Pass as it was Trade Marked by TiVO. They instead started using Series Link. Upon perusing their manuals now, it appears that they have change to Season Record.
It has been Series Record for a long time, probably since '06 when the D* branded DVRs came out.

I almost wrote this is the last post, but didn't think anyone would care...

A few days ago, I was watching severe weather coverage one afternoon just before the WBZ local news started. Since any channel in Boston can't go more than 5 minutes without mentioning their king, Tom Brady, they mentioned that the first preseason game was next Thursday the 13th and would be on WBZ since a storm was near the palace of Foxboro. It took a second, but then I thought, "what about Under The Dome?" so I looked in the guide. The guide literally stopped between 6pm and 9pm on the 13th. I checked Tuesday and it was the same. I checked again last night, and it went out to Wednesday the 19th on many channels. It is the same now.

Tell me more about a home brew DVR! That's an app I'd use...

home brew
noun
  1. beer or other alcoholic drink brewed at home.
"I observed the town's bootlegger deliver three bottles of home brew"
    • USinformal
      made at home,
rather than in a store or factory.
modifier noun: home-brew; plural noun: homebrews
      "home-brew software"

Not quite there buddy, as always I'd like to use facts. Apparently DIRECTV is still using Series Link.

Except for the fact I don't recall ever seeing the wo9rds Series Link actually ON THE RECVR ANYWHERE.

I looked thru an older manual I had from my old D* HR20 I believe and it never mentioned Series Link either.

I didn't see a date on your post, is that a newer book or an older one ?

I like to use facts too, however I don't have the resorces you employees apparently have to find articles in the manuals ...

Just looked thru my manuals that I have left around here and I don't see anything like that page ....

If your given a manual from D* about YOUR OWN recvr, you'd think the INFO you posted would be in it ....

If they don't give you the manual hows one to know.

I posted a link from DIRECTV website, current as of yesterday!

Ok ....

Hopefully I don't have to go to D*'s website to figure out how to use the Series Record/Link feature ... this is the kind of stuff that you would expect to be in the manual that they give with each recvr .... when I first started, I read the manual, many moons ago, but people do need to know the basics, I would expect the basics to be in the manual they give you.

Anyways, as for the SL or SR it really doesn't matter one way or the other, but it would be nice if the company used the same terminology thru out.

It also says UPN and WB on the Directv website so it must be true.

Right, I was saying that Series Link is not the "other site" lingo, but rather something that DIRECTV made up when they went to their Home-brew DVR after dropping TiVO

Except it is. It's the only place it's used regularly that I have seen. The term is not used anywhere on the interface that customers use so using it leads to confusion

Perhaps you mean conclusion, one that you came out with....

There is nothing wrong with using lingo that is expressly coming from DIRECTV's own website. You would thing if they use it is OK for everyone else to use it as well

Wouldn't you also then expect them to use thar same lingo when using the Equipment ?

No... Definitely confusion. Why do you intentionally use a term that isn't used on the interface?
