April 8 (Bloomberg) -- Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Inc., the two biggest U.S. cable-television operators, agreed to buy Adelphia Communications Corp. for almost $18 billion in cash and stock, the New York Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The deal, presented yesterday to the judge in Adelphia's bankruptcy case, would give Time Warner and Comcast 5.3 million subscribers in cities including Los Angeles and Miami. The agreement to buy Greenwood Village, Colorado-based Adelphia may be completed within days, the Wall Street Journal reported.
