Got the 5400 in the mail yesterday, and I thought I would share a few thoughts about it.

So far I think it is a great receiver.

It does have a couple of things that I will have to get used to.

The threshold is around 30% SQ. On White Springs it will display at 20% SQ, but Montana PBS it requires 30% or above to not pixelate.

I was also dis-appointed that it wouldn't handle more than 4 diseqc ports in the setup menu.

I tried it on the 10 foot Unimesh with a Geosat Pro voltage controlled LNBF, and it worked pretty well except for low Ku signal TPs.

It was a little strange. The actual meter reading read very high for C-Band channels, but seemed to run a little low for Ku channels.

I now have it on my motorized Primestar dish, and it is doing a great job there.

I think if it gets a good signal, it works very well. I am using USALS with it, and it moves the motor very accurately.

The scan is nice. It is very flexible, and you can tell it to scan for locked or unlocked and if you use the lowest setting a step 4 or step 6 it won't miss a thing. It will also allow you to scan for Vertical or Horizont TPs only if you so choose. You can also choose the frequency range you want to scan.

You can read the review on the FS Classic NA. I think it is pretty much the same receiver.

All in all, it is a great receiver, and a great deal that we got on them from SatelliteAV.

Thanks again Brian,
Fred

Is that the one with the Irdeto thing in it? Have you tried it on AMC6 on the weather channel feed there? They are using Irdeto, or at least thats what my box says when I hit the channel. Maybe its like fixed key , would be neat to get that one.
