Never seen this before. Nice of DTV to tell people about the solar outage. This popped up about a minute after the channel went down. Guess DTV's uplink is getting hammered.

This happens every year; 2 times per. Happens to DBS, cable, and BUD (but you can move away from it); anytime where signal are gathered by a dish at some point or another in the process..

I know all about the sun outage that happens in Sept and Mar since I had a bud since 1987. I surprised DirecTV put up a screen explaining what is happening. I guess they don't want the phone lines flooded.

Afaik cable switches up or downstreams when there are atmospheric issues such as torrential rain. I know all sat provider upstreams have several sites also just in case. Not quite the same with solar interference I guess. ?

Was there a strong Sun flare at 4 pm ET today affecting sat comms? I even checked with jen sastre's online sun outage calculator that has always been on the money and it did not match what was happening since it happenened to several sats at the same time. I was watching 119W and lost it at 4pm when it was supposed to be at 3:20 pm.
