Hi All,

This is my first post. I've used this forum a lot since I got my HR20-100. It's been a big help. Now for the question.

When I up-convert my SD to 480p, I get thin black lines around the image. This is a problem because I still have an older TV on which these lines could burn in. My hughes hd dvr does not do this. Is there a way to remove these lines without going back to 480i?

Thanks for your help

First look in your TV's Owner's Manual to confirm your TV has progressive scanning
.My TV is an older one with component inputs and it is Not Progressive Scanning. Then once confirmed you might try to switch cables,if that's not successful, because your TV is older you probably need to contact a local TV repairman for either an adjustment or part replacement.Good Luck!:):welcome

P.S. You could also try a RBR on the HR20-100 or because it's not happening with your hughes it also could be the HR20.Which would require a DirecTV tech to come
out an access the problem.Again Good Luck!.:)

If you mean very thin black lines between the picture and the gray bars then it is a known HR20 bug, there is nothing you can do about it (except stretch your SD picture). It has to be fixed in the HR20 software. It happens in both 480i and 480p.

NFL Network HD Games

Why is DVR not free? Is there a better deal?
