Yeah, about what I expected.no. Reason is the X4 list is Digichipher II (DCII) and thelist is just DVB channels
The good news is that I learn something every time I log in! If I read your answer correctly and understand the wiki on DVB, then C-band also uses DVB. Is that correct? I did not know that.
I know we tend to interchange terms dealing with transport, compression, bands, etc so I often have to step back and think things through carefully. I was thinking of DCII as encryption rather than compression - which would have made it a candidate for the list that includes Viaccess, PowerVu, Nagravision, etc.

C-Band can use a few different types of setup
-analog (need a C-Band box)
-Videocipher II (VCII)....analog subscription
-DCII...digital subscription or can be free
-DVB..what FTA boxes normally use
only thing that can use DCII are 4DTV boxes (905,920,922) and the 410...VCII there was a module you put in the analog box.

Ku band and C Band are frequency bands like VHF (Very High Frequency) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency).
You can broadcast using any format (Analog, DVB, DCII, and many other ones) on any of the frequency bands as long as you have the right equipment, a broadcast license and follow the transmission rules, mainly that you do not interfere with other broadcasters.

Right, I wish we had more of this type of info. I can't tell you the number or hours I have spent searching and reading threads. Of course, that is part of the fun of Sat Guys! Sometimes it is fun to follow the conversations, other times when looking for specific info the conversations can be a nuisance. Like this one for example...

The is a satellite called Nahuel 1 its at 71.8 East. It has 11 In the clear channels. It is on the list. Please ADD!

can I get that in English please?
If I decipher it,. Nahuel 1 is at 71.8 WEST (not East) and that footprint is for South America. There is part of a footprint for that satellite that will reach the Southern US (border states)

Nahuel used to have channels that were receivable in Southern US but they were moved to 45.0°W Intelsat 1R Ku & 53.0°W Intelsat 707 Ku.
Currently Nahuel does not have any "Strong Transponders" , but there are occasional feeds.
Also updates will be delayed a few more days until my FTA receiver comes back from the hospital

The main goal of TheList is to make satellite information available in a easy to access way for all users.
The database that TheList uses was created by SatelliteGuys users scans.

I think the idea of a collaborative, community-updated list is perfect.
A couple ideas. They may or may not be practical, but hopefully will stimulate some thought about this.
1. Some kind of Wiki arrangement might be cool. It may not be quite as pretty, but if registered users here could log in with their site password and make changes as new channels are found or old channels change status, it would really help "share the load" and increase the rate at which the list updates with changes -- and thus its value to the FTA community at large.
2. Perhaps if a Wiki-like user-editing capability is implemented, viewers could click on the name of the channel and add notes about language, content, maybe recommend particular programs that they liked, to help others know what's up with that feed.
The virtue of a user-modifiable page is that its value to everyone increases the more everyone participates. (Just take a look at the mind-boggling Wikipedia for a perfect example of what it can evolve into)!
The obvious drawback is that an "open" wiki is subject to vandalism and abuse. It seems like the solution there is to pick a Wiki that has logon security and the ability to back out individual edits in the case of vandalism (and since the user has to log in, you know who did it.)
Anyways, just a wild idea.

Iceberg's list was much much better. It wasn't broke , wonder why you guys fixed it. I can't read this one, so guess I will have to shoot over to Lyngsat to find out where stuff is. Why is encrypted stuff listed?
