The Voice

67 yr old Steve Clisby sings God Bless the Child on the Voice Australia Showdowns. He is the leader of the pack in my opinion. Only a couple left that have the voice and talent to match him.

'The Voice' champ Cassadee Pope: Hear her new single and learn who she's really pulling for in season 4

Cassadee Pope, the pop-rock singer who embraced her country roots to win season 3 of The Voice for Team Blake, will be returning to The Voice stage on June 4 to debut her new single, “Wasting All These Tears.”

Yes he is. I've actually seen Rae Lynn and a few others around Tishomingo a few times. I'm going down there tomorrow to take flowers to cemetery, wouldn't be surprised to see some of them around, with the concert coming up Wednesday.

I am not certain they were country roots - as pretty much all of her music was in the rock genre before the show, but she definitely is a smart woman and saw the success she had and embraced country. I look forward to seeing her perform next week. The song is pretty good.

Speaking of Cassaddee, I voted for her every time, and bought every song from itunes. No one has inspired me to even pick up the phone, less purchase from iTunes this season. Oh, I like the ones who are there still, but not like last season.

This proves that the Voice is all country once again.. and dumping the BEST two contestants that were suppose to be in the finals

It is definitely obvious that country rules the demographics of the voting public. Bad song choice for Judith Hill. Freakazoid hair did not equal vote getting. Can't even remember Sarah Sim's performance. Not surprised.

A year later, we find ourselves in a similar position with America choosing all three of Blake’s country acts (some more talented than others) over two of Adam’s three powerhouse vocalists. So with three of the top six singers being country artists at this point in season 4, the country influence seems to have grown from last season, so much so that the show could be well on its way to becoming The Country Voice.
What brought about this pattern, which really only began during season 3? In my opinion, all signs point to the addition of using iTunes to vote for singers. iTunes added an advantage for never-before-heard songs (aka a lot of country), because audiences are much more likely to buy a song that’s brand new to them rather than add yet another cover of a song they already have two versions of on their iPod (the original version and the Glee version, obviously). Also, if audiences haven’t heard the original, they’re much less harsh in their judgment of the contestant’s version.
Bascially the reason Country singers do better, is because no one has ever heard the songs before?

Sorry, but Country has been very popular for a long time. The writer is just mad because it's more popular than what he thinks should be popular.

On the flip side, I don't listen to country, did not know who Blake Shelton or Miranda Lambert were before season 2 of the voice; and I ended up buying every Cassadee Pope song last season. Now, the first half weren't country; the ones that were certainly did not have the annoying "twang" I commonly associate (in my own biased mind) with the genre. AND I did not own any of the songs she was covering. I suspect iTunes does have an impact, but I have no clue how to measure it.

As far as Blake's team goes, the Swon Brothers are an oddity; a duo that is goofy, but sings well. I am not surprised they have gone as far as they have. The 16 year old girl really is quite talented, and has the youth vote, just on a cute-ness factor; the third one (the college student from Baylor, right?) she doesn't wow me. BUT none of the singers this season truly knock my socks off. I like Michelle from Usher's team (man, that woman must be blind as a bat!), and I think Amber Carrington from Team Adam is one of my favorites. It will be interesting to see what happens.

On a different note, it is refreshing to still have NEW TV going into June. Kudos to NBC for starting this season in March. Long after all the other shows are done, The Voice is still on the air.

This weeks Australian episode was one of the best performance shows of any of the 4 versions (US,UK, Aussie, Irish) of The Voice I watch.

Luke Kennedy had a good performance they haven't uploaded. Miss Murphy, Mitchell Anderson and Danny Ross had good performances too.
