The Road to Super Bowl XLV: The 2010-11 NFL Playoffs

Everybody talks about New England being the best team in football, but Pittsburgh is under the radar. Ben Roethlisberger has the potential for 3 Super Bowl wins if the Steelers win against the Jets & go to the Super Bowl. He has to be in the same conversation as Peyton Manning(Roethlisberger has more SB wins than Manning) & Tom Brady.

If the Jets can beat the Steelers next week, IMO that will be the most impressive Super Bowl run in NFL history (winning ON THE ROAD against Indy, NE and Pitt)!

The road to Super Bowl XLV ... just took a detour through Pittsburgh. :) :up

Yes it has. And as big a Pats fan I am, I'm a football fan first, and I think Jets-Steelers will be another rock 'em- sock 'em game!!

I've always respected the Steelers, and now I have a new found respect for the Jets...they backed up what they said.

I'm not gonna lie, this hurts.....A LOT!! But I'll get over it, and look forward to a great game next Sunday.

Well Bill, you can take heart in knowing that it hurts a lot because the Pats are so damn good year in and year out. They'll be right back in the thick of things again next year, which is not something we all can say. :up :)

Next weeks game will be much like the Steeler's / Raven's game, both teams play tough D ( Ryan coming over from Baltimore).

Little irony- this year's Conference Championship teams are all cold-weather teams, and the games are in chilly places (Chicago and Pittsburgh).

Far cry from last year, when most of the playoff games were in domes or warm places.

Thanks, buddy! :)

BTW, your team has been in the thick of things since 1972 (or so it seems). :D

The Jets will be looking to become the fourth team to earn a Super Bowl berth by winning three playoff games on the road. The '85 Patriots (beat the Jets, Raiders and Dolphins), the '05 Steelers (beat the Bengals, Colts and Broncos) and the '07 Giants (beat the Bucs, Cowboys and Packers) were the three other teams.

The Steelers and Giants went on to win the Super Bowl (with the Giants defeating an undefeated Pats team), but if the Jets defeat the Steelers next week that will be the most impressive run GETTING to the SB.

Probably 30 or there abouts ! :D

I'll be looking that way too after the SB though.

What do you guys think about the Pro Bowl being played BEFORE the SB ?

I think it's beyond stupid!!

Hey, there is a silver lining for me in all this.........I get to see Belichick wear a lei over his hoodie!!

EDIT: I won't even get that. I forgot it's the loser of the AFCCG that coaches the Pro Bowl

So will the Packers (bit it ain't happening!)

1 common thread to all playoff winners: The victors RAN the ball better than their opponent. Simple, but true.....

Seattle: 149yds
New Orleans: 77

NYJ: 169yds
Indy: 93

Balt: 142yds
KC: 108

GB: 138yds
Philly: 82

Who says this has become a passing league?

In the next rounds, I can see Atlanta out rushing Green Bay. Chicago out rushing Seattle. It's a toss-up between the Steelers and Ravens. As always, that game will be close.

Will New England be an exception to this rule? How will they out rush the Jets?

Looks like the same pattern I pointed out last week held serve. The team that rushes more than the other wins the game. Simple, yet true. In EVERY single playoff game thus far....

Chicago: 176yds
Seattle: 34

Pittsburgh: 71yds
Baltimore: 35

Green Bay: 96yds
Atlanta: 45

NYJ:120yds
New England: 113
