The Red Wing 08 - 09 Season Officially Begins

Darren McCarty placed on waivers yesterday. If he is not claimed by noon today, he will be optioned to Grand Rapids. McCarty had signed a two-way contract for $575,000 before the season, and has been on IR all season. Good luck D-Mac!

Can't figure this one out. D-Mac clears waivers yesterday, and the Red Wings call him up to Detroit for tonight's game. What gives here?
He was never sent down he was on iR.
I think that Z is out pulled groin.
The Detroit News said that if Z could not go tonight D-Mac would be in the line up.
They sent Helm down though.

Maybe this means he now plays for the league minimum ???

Anyone watch the game tonight take notice of the abnormal number of camera shots of Babcock on the Wings bench? If you noticed this did you also notice the lady sitting behind the bench with the nice cleavage?

I watch alot of wings games and I just don't remember that many bench shots in a game. :)

I mentioned that he was on IR. Didn't mean to imply that he was sent down, I should have said that he was "activated", instead. By the way, what did they end up doing with him (D-Mac) yesterday?

He is on the team but did not dress Z was in the game.
Homer has a goal in all the games so far.

Wings continue to win, but I'm not liking how they're getting it done. I like scoring, but they need to get back to the business of playing defense Another big night for Hossa! At any rate, I'll take a win against the Blackhawks any way it comes. They out-played us all game.

I'll agree, but it is always nice to get a road win after playing back-to-back games. The thing I don't like is all the turnovers and missed passes...very sloppy.

Paul, you are so right.....where are our other players.....take away Hossa, and we would be in trouble. Time for everyone to get in sync with the program.

Season is only 8 games old. I would give a little more time to get the D going. It will. They are too good not to.
I mean if this team is struggling at 6-1-1 I cant wait till they are playing better.

I hate shootouts, wish they would outlaw them.
You effectively take all parts of the game outside of scorers and Goalies ansd say the hell with the rest of the game.

They need to change the point structure to give the winning team 2 points and the losing team NOTHING, like it use to be, right now there's no incentive to NOT go to OT, each team gains a point. Need to make it so the losser doesn't get a point, maybe they would be decided in regulation.
Then when they DO need to go to OT, play sudden death for a period of 4 on 4, if no one scores, it's a tie.
NOBODY gets a point.

Or make it so the winning team gets 3 points, none for a loss and each team gets ONE for a tie after a period of Sudden death 4 on 4
