The Red Wing 08 - 09 Season Officially Begins

Turned the game off at 5-2, imagine my surprise when I read the paper this morning. WTF!

I turned it on when it was 6-4 ....
I feel like they lost because I watched the last half ....

Thats why I said I have quit watching the Wings earlier ....

That said, the Wings have won the President's Cup and the Stanley Cup together before, so it may not matter.

Yep, winning the President's Trophy used to be the Kiss-of-Death...however, the Wings have done it at least twice so I don't worrry about it. To be honest, I think the reason winning the President's Trophy was such bad luck is because the teams regularly played their first two-lines in order to gain home ice advantage. However, the Wings are deep enough where they might still win the points race while resting their first two lines.

I still miss Scotty Bowman - the guy was a genius when it came to getting his players ready for the playoffs.
