The REAL NBA Season: Free Agents can now sign with anyone!

I understand now ... and btw, the poster was "me" lol You know the bad thing about the whole Grant Hill situation is that he seems like one heck of a nice guy.

He is...I met him a baseball tournament he sponsored for high school teams when we took our team to a national tournament in Wide World of Sports....SUPER nice guy.

They have nothing to trade unless they thin out their roster even MORE. Unfortunately, these older teams just don't have much as far trade value. Unless a team is looking for bodies to open cap room for later....Dumars, Randy Rfund(Heat), Isiah Thomas(Knicks) and Ed Stefanski(Nets) are suck with older teams and can only make smaller moves...the ONLY thing of value are the stars that are driving the teams starting five.....Face it Paul, there is gonna be a changing of the guard, so to speak in the East within the next 5 years....:(

Salsa, haven't you been reading what I've been posting? The changing of the guard has already happened. I'm on record as to saying if the Pistons DON'T make changes, they will no longer be a contender in the East. Chicago is my odds on choice to win the East next season. Cleveland has already passed us. The Knicks acquired Randolph, Atlanta is an up and coming team on the basis of their past 3 drafts. Meanwhile Detroit and Miami are getting older and sitting on their hands. I'll admit it's hard to make good trades in this era of salary cap matching, but what else can you do? Success brings lower draft picks, and Dumar's draft record isn't that great to begin with. (Remember Darko)?

PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE....I am telling you, Cleveland making the Finals was a complete fluke. They are good, but NOT that good. The beat a Wizards team that was missing their 2 best players....they played and Nets team that was slightly better that the Wizards WITHOUT the best players...AND got lucky that they some how have their number in the Pistons(don't ask me how, the Pistons were and ALWAYS been MUCH more talented....Cleveland is just younger and the have Lebron...THAT'S IT!!). The Bulls are a good team, VERY up and coming....Orlando, very up and coming...Toronto...very up and coming...and ALL those teams are VERY young....AND don't under estimate the 76ers....in a VERY weak Northeast division. The HEAT is not as old as they look....the problem is, health. A healthy Shaq and Wade is the best 1-2 punch in the east. The Pistons have ALOT more older players in the STARTING line-up than Miami has....Miami's age is the go-to guys off the bench...

I have to agree with Salsa, Cleveland isn't as good as people think. That doesn't mean they won't get better of course, but that is why they play the games. It makes for an intersting season next year.

IF...and that is a big IF because there not too many free agents that can....they can sign/trade someone that can help Lebron in the scorning dept....then MAYBE...but do for 2 years or more...and then we can talk...

its official, rashard lewis has signed a max 6-year-contract worth $118 million, in a sign and trade deal. the magic second a future second round draft pick as compensation. hope he's worth it!

hey paul, have you noticed that memphis has agreed (in principal) to a 3-year, $21 million contract with darko? thank goodness, he didn't get the $10 mil a year he wanted. but he's still being overpaid.

as for orlando, i have no earthly idea what the hell they were thinking by giving lewis a sixth year at 25 million. orlando has done so many stupid things, i can't keep track. this, however, might ice the cake.

that's why, i'm now a bulls fan. true confessions, i've had a scott skiles crush since the magic picked him up in the expansion draft. love the way he played the game....love the way, he coaches.

Loved Skiles when he was at MSU! As for the contracts you mentioned- if these guys are worth this much, how much will LeBron be worth when his contract comes up? Those numbers are insane. What has either player done to deserve that kind of money? I don't see any rings, or even remember their names at any all star games or all-NBA lists.

lewis did make one all-star team as did dwight howard. howard was also named third team all nba after last season. darko hasn't done squat!

i loved the fact the bulls drafted joakim noah from florida. he's the kind of energetic guy, skiles would love to coach! lets face it, scotty always did bring his lunch pale to work every day and played like a bull dog! everybody knew from the way he played, he would make a great head coach. and while he isn't quite there yet, i think he's heading in the right direction!!:)

Hey Salsadipper, I see the Heat just signed Penny Hardaway. Did you get your season tickets yet? I'd hate to see you miss out on a NBA championship! This should be the move that pushes back to the top.

Actually, it's not a bad move. He just replaces a much slower, Eddie Jones.
IF he can stay healthy and is in decent shape.....it is a steal....especially at the price they signed him. The have addressed a desperate need in a backup point guard by signing the former STARTING PG from the Lakers, Smush Parker. They have to resign James Posey and I think they will be in good shape.

I see the Pistons just signed Jarvis Hayes! I got my season tickets. I know you'd hate to see me miss out on a NBA championship! This should be the move that pushes the Pistons back to the top:rolleyes:

Apparently not. This could be a long season for both of our teams, see as neither has done anything major to help themselves.

I don't think the Heat could have pull off anything because of salary cap issues. Detroit, I can not speak on there behalf. Remember....Cleveland, Chicago, New Jersey and Milwaukee did nothing major either for their respective teams. So I still think yours and mine will definately still be in the playoff hunt.

Chicago added Joaquin Noah. I was hoping that Detroit would make a major trade involving the starting 5. while they are still in the prime years, I felt a change was needed. We are resting our hopes on a few youngsters (Maxiell, Amir Johnson, Stuckey) to provide some spark off the bench, where our major problem has been since the season after we won the championship. It just seemed like we had enough to get to the conference finals every year, but needed another piece to get any further. Center still remains a problem. Like I said before - it's been a nice 5 yr. run - but maybe complacency is becoming a problem, and I see younger teams starting to come of age. Mainly Chicago. Still hoping for a Detroit - Miami conference final.

Though they added Noah....they project him as a power forward in this league...until he gains some muscle...they will eat him alive. I am a huge Syracuse Orangemen fan and they had a player similar to him with BETTER rebounding numbers and a better outside shot in Hakeem Warrick and he TOO was projected as a power forward. But he too was very thin. And though he is a good player...until he, like Noah...adds some MUCH needed weight and strength....they will eat him alive. He is a project....as far as NBA standards.
