Well, let the rumors and the games begin!! Right now, the 2 HOT and HEAVY rumors is EITHER Rashard Lewis or Ron Artest to Miami. IF...and I don't know if they have enough for a sign and trade or an all out signing...IF they do sign either, they ARE the team of the EAST to beat. ESPECIALLY if they sign someone of that caliber AND get to keep Adonis Haslim.....if THAT'S the case, there will be NO BETTER front line of a combination of Haslim, Shaq and Artest OR Haslim, Shaq and Lewis in the East.:up

Do you really believe this, with a 40 year old 400 lb Shaq still trying to play ?

Jimbo

Jimbo

And at 35 years old....he is STILL better than 95% of the centers in the league. He STILL makes players think twice before going in the paint, he still blocks AND alters shots....and he is good for 19-24 points and 9-13 rebounds a game. IF you were to ask ANY....ANY coach AND general manager of ANY team in the NBA, CBA, Euro and any other pro league IF they could get THAT kind of production from the center position.... AT LEAST 95% of the coaches and GMs would be lined up RIGHT NOW!

You know that and so does the rest of the league.

Well...there goes Rashard Lewis!! Orlando just signed him for some serious bank!! $75 million bucks for 5 or 6 years....I tell ya, slowly but surely...the Orlando Magic is getting a pretty decent time together. They could really make some noise down here in the state.

Didn't the Heat just lose Kapano?

Yep....good for him....let him cash in on a great season he had. But he ONLY had a great season because of Shaq and the emergence of D-Wade. He is this years Raf Alston/Voshan Lenord/Dan Marjerle. ALL 3 were very serviceable, good outside shooters.

I don't think its that big of a deal. The real problems Orlando has is their perimeter defenders really stink! Why is Jameer Nelson still a starter in the NBA? This guy couldn't guard his shadow and his decision making skills are terrible!

Grant Hill will sign with Suns

Grant Hill will sign with Suns

ORLANDO -- Grant Hill, whose seven years in Orlando were marred by crippling injuries to his ankle and abdomen, informed the Magic on Thursday that he is leaving to sign a free-agent contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Hill, who confirmed Thursday morning that he was leaving, will likely replace Raja Bell in the Suns' starting lineup at shooting guard. He could shift to his natural position, small forward, if Phoenix trades Shawn Marion as rumored.

Agent: Grant Hill will sign with Suns - USATODAY.com

This should makes the Suns stronger.

It's a good signing for them and Hill....and I would not done anything MORE than one year.....with his history of injuries. Man, the promise THIS guy had.....:(

I agree Salsa. I had the pleasure of watching him in Detroit for a few seasons. was sad to see him leave, but his "sign and trade" was the beginning of Detroit's return to prominence. A complete player before the 5 ankle surgeries. Still a good player, and would have helped Detroit off the bench. He may be the piece that puts Phoenix over the top next season. Got to wonder what his career would have been if.....

A sigh of relief in Detroit...Billups signed a 5 yr. deal worth 60M.

They HAD to, letting ANOTHER main piece of that team would have been a marketing nightmare and just about kill all chances of barely getting past the 1st round of the playoffs. UP and COMING teams just want to make the playoffs...ESTABLISHED team, making the playoffs is not enough OR the goal.

I thought he was going to leave for a new opportunity with a team with a brighter future. We've had a nice run here (5 yrs.) but some changes are needed. I agree we had to sign him, given the lack of suitable replacements at point guard in this league. I still expect a major trade to be made by Dumars, though.

They have nothing to trade unless they thin out their roster even MORE. Unfortunately, these older teams just don't have much as far trade value. Unless a team is looking for bodies to open cap room for later....Dumars, Randy Rfund(Heat), Isiah Thomas(Knicks) and Ed Stefanski(Nets) are suck with older teams and can only make smaller moves...the ONLY thing of value are the stars that are driving the teams starting five.....Face it Paul, there is gonna be a changing of the guard, so to speak in the East within the next 5 years....:(

C'mon Salsa, it was a tongue in cheek comment. You have to admit though, his career has been a bust because of injury.

Oh....I was not making an issue with the person who posted the comment...it was more of a reflection how bad his career has gone with all the injuries and such...Hell, he beat me to the punch, I was thinking the same thing but more of an over and under of how many games he plays....:D

I understand now ... and btw, the poster was "me" lol You know the bad thing about the whole Grant Hill situation is that he seems like one heck of a nice guy.
