The Official Super Bowl XLIII Thread

What a game.

This REALLY has to sting HD MM.

Not only does his least favorite team win the Super Bowl, but the biggest plays of the game were made by none other than a Kent State alum (James Harrison's 100-yard pick six) and a player from his beloved Buckeyes (Santonio Holmes).

It did sting. A lot! I'm trying to cool off before giving my thoughts on the game though.

For all the Steeler slobberers, this game should be enough proof on why of I took the Cards prior to the game.

Oh great, here we go, tell us why the Cards deserved the game instead of the Steelers.

No he didnt their is a replay shown by NBC that proved he didnt!

I'm a diehard Browns fan and I hate the Steelers more than any human on Earth, and I even think Holmes got both feet in. There are many more questionable issues that happened in this game, but that final catch wasn't one of them.

use him on 3rd down situations only. he'll be fine ;)

i got a feeling that the cards offensive line will be the one to give

#1 that's exactly what they did but he still couldn't do much. holmes came up big for the steelers.

#2 they did a god job for the most part but they did give up some pressure at key situations especially at the end there.

keep your emotions out of it and use your eyes. I will never understand this blinding hatred people feel against other teams. learn to enjoy the game
he was in. keep telling yourself the sky is red:rolleyes: actually the sky today is gold and black :D

Springsteen was horrible! At first, he was screaming about putting the chicken fingers down, turn up the volume, bs, bs, bs and I was like "just shut up and start singing" and then he launches into a few bad songs and ends with the best song of the set, Glory Days.
Where was Born in the USA? USA is home to the Super bowl of course...

I was more entertained looking for Max Weinberg and La Bamba in the band in the various camera shots until Glory Days started.

I was hoping the halftime dog of a concert could be saved by the girl in the red dress who was bopping up and down enough that I was hoping for an accidental wardrobe malfunction of her fakies coming out.

time to go back to the better singers/bands - the geezers aren't doing it (except Prince). I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Katy Perry at the halftime show but the NFL probably has to worry about inappropriate lyrics ("Kissed a Girl" song) or potential for intentional nudity.

You have absolutely no credibility after this statement.

And BTW, you maybe the only person I've talked to who thinks this way about Springsteen. To me, he put on an awesome show for the time he was allotted.

he did good. who the hell is Katy Perry :D

Cardinals got screwed. Santonio Holmes used the football as a prop in an endzone celebration after the catch, like a salt shaker and then threw it in the air. Right after the 10 annoying replays. 15 yards would have changed Warners last drive.

He was imitating LeBron.

One of multiple kicks in the groin to me throughout the game.

The WHOLE playoffs stung me. NOT because my team was not there...but because a few years back, the Raiders had a choice of EITHER Fitzgerald or Robert Gallery. I was VERY happy:) for Fitzgerald and I was ever hating Al Davis:mad: MORE by the second!

I hate Springsteen, maybe they should have no one, don't have a concert, save time and start the second half earlier.

Monday Morning QB- Super Bowl XLIII Style

1. Congratulations Steelers. 6 Super Bowl Championships is quite the accomplishment. You are now, without argument the best modern* franchise in football. (* By modern, I mean post 1967).

2. It's unfortunate a game of such magnitude contained so many costly penalties. Some deserving, others VERY questionable. The roughing the passer penalty on Roethlisberger was absurd.

3. Why was the final "questionable" fumble by Warner not reviewed?

4. The TD catch by Santonio Holmes will go down as one of the greatest catches in Super Bowl history. It will be forever immortalized along with "The Catch" by Dwight Clark, thrown by Joe Montana as well as the David Tyree catch from Super Bowl XLII.

5. The interception return by James Harrison for a TD was a game changing moment. Sure the Cardinals came back, but this play was demoralizing on so many different levels. It was essentially at least a 10 point swing, if not a 14 point swing. The Cardinals were ensured a field goal to tie it up at halftime. At best, they score a TD and go up by 4 at halftime. Instead, they ended up trailing by 7 and have to play catchup the entire 2nd half.

6. Sunday, February 1st was a great all around day for sports. The Raffa/R-Fed Australian Championship was epic. The Cavs win over the Pistons was satisfying. The 4th quarter of Super Bowl XLIII was surreal.

7. I thought the commercials were very disappointing. For all of the companies that spent millions of dollars on 30-second commercials, I can't think of one that particularly stood out.

8. I thought Jennifer Hudson's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" was excellent. Probably the most moving since Whitney Houston did it several it years back.

9. The halftime show was fantastic! Bruce and the boys did a fabulous job squeezing in 4 songs in the 12 minutes allotted. I thought it was the best halftime show I can remember. Better than Tom Petty, better than Prince, better than the Stones, better than Paul McCartney, better than the mess that was Super Bowl XXXVIII. The Super Bowl has seen some big acts, but Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band outdid them all! He rocked!

10. Personally, this game was especially trying for me as an "all Ohio" backer. Fellow Kent St. alumn, James Harrison returned an INT for a TD. Santonio Holmes (tOSU) grad caught the game winning TD and imitated LeBron's chalk routine as a celebration. Ben Roethlisberger (Miami of Ohio) grad won his 2nd Super Bowl. Former Browns Coordinator, Bruce Arians orchestrated a masterful offensive scheme in the final drive of the Steelers win. How long will this suffering last?!

It's all part of the experience man. You can't have a Super Bowl halftime without a musical act. That just isn't right.

And btw, I'm not a huge Bruce groupie by any means, but I did think The Boss put on an awesome show.

Wow! Two great SB's in a row. After so many games that failed to live up to the hype, we get two gems. Pittsburgh game winning drive was one for the ages. Maybe this will stifle some of the Big Ben critics.

The problem with having a musical act is that they all have to be "Old timers". They can't afford to have another Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake(SP?) fiasco.

So they have to use older musicians like Springsteen, Tom Petty,Prince or Paul McCartney. Who's next, Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills and Nash, Neil Young or the Eagles?

Springsteen said Cold Play should perform next year, are they too controversial for the half-time show? How about any R&B or Rap performer, are they too controversial for the half-time show? Some say AC/DC, maybe Metallica, Pearl Jam or The Red Hot Chili Peppers, are they too controversial for the half-time show?

Just let them play the damn game.

Controversial? Bruce is a big O* supporter, but didn't get political. He sung and that was it. Who cares about so called "controversy" or their ties outside of music. In the end, music is what it's all about and most of the artists realize that.
