Dish removed their Spanish-language placeholder channel from channel 309 today. It looks like HBO Latino is not coming back. :crying

So u saying hbo and Cinemax coming back to
Dish right?? Sound like big change for everything

I have no idea how you derived anything about Dish in JSheridan's post. In fact, his post is the handwriting on the wall. HBO and Cinemax are going to be a thing of the past on anything except ATT/DirecTv from the way I see it!

I'm still predicting that neither HBO nor Cinemax are returning to Dish, period. If they do, I'll be very surprised. As JSheridan said in #1168, AT&T (aka the Death Star) is destroying a once great product... I spend most of my movie-watching time now on Epix, Starz/Encore, Netflix and Amazon...

I would say quite the opposite. Dish starting to remove the placeholder channels shows that Dish is finally giving up on ever bringing HBO and Cinemax back. Look for the HDNet Movies on 300 and 310, the info channels on 301 and 311, and possibly even the Netflix app on 302, to all be removed soon. No word yet on what Dish may be putting on those channels next, but my money is still on Starz.

Well it did take a few months longer than anticipated, that second shoe has dropped. I did keep a bit of hope. First pay tv I subscribed to while stationed in San Diego late 70’s.

I'm hoping for HD versions of the rest of the premium movie channels. And please don't call me blugras. :biggrin

What is really ironic is that this thread became designated as the "official" Dish / HBO thread, rather than the original thread that was started when the channels were removed, which still has more posts in it than this thread does.
HBO/Cinemax Takedown
Well, after all this time, this thread finally has more posts in it than the original thread, so I guess that really does make this the "official" Dish / HBO thread now. Perhaps these threads should be merged. Let's make this the longest dispute thread ever! :yessign

I'd love to see the non-HD Starz channels in HD, as well as Starz put up HD versions of the rest of the Encore channels and then Dish broadcast them in HD. And why have Epix Drive-In in SD??? The bandwidth is obviously available and I definitely wouldn't mind more movie channels in HD, since 13 slots of bandwidth (most of it was HD) is now free to be used elsewhere...

If this would have happened 5-10 years ago, HBO/Cinemax probably would have returned. But now with so many choices for getting movies, HBO/Cinemax is not needed as much. I still have HBO streaming for a couple shows, but I may drop it in time. Between what is on Dish like Epix, TCM, Retro, Encore, Starz, etc and streaming Amazon and Hulu. I really wonder how many really need HBO. If it wasn't for the Game of Thrones, Realtime, etc, I doubt they would get near as many subs. Plus $15 a month is expensive. You know, Direct offers a discount for HBO/Cinemax.Maybe Dish should be that with Showtime/TMC or Starz/Encore.

I feel like starting a new thread is warranted to see if it can get as long as this one too. ;)
