Let them fail. By the way, anyone still want to challenge the idea of what would happen if one more major provider dumped HBO as well?
There goes HBO and any more quality programs. ATT will do to HBO what it is doing to Directv and everything else it touches. Turn it to caca.
I imagine Jeff Bezos will have a resume on his desk soon.
It's derived from Latin.A very technical term not used often anymore.
You mean DirecTVNot oops DirecTVNow.What else could he do once it became obvious ATT was willingly sacrificing HBO revenue in an attempt to get more subscribers onto it's Direct TV.
Spectrum did not drop Cinemax owned by HBO and crappy AT&T but they did remove it from there Gold package and charge extra for it. I see many providers just charging extra removing it from bundles like "Gold" or "Premium" pack.Let them fail. What for? Just subscribe directly. It's a lot less hassel than changing equipment and dishes.I expect that as soon as Game of Thrones comes back on that if HBO and Dish have not settled, the stampede to Direct TV will be Biblical !!
As I recall the numbers, less than 10% of Dish subscribers were paying for HBO. A number of those subscribers have likely found the savings better than the programs they'll miss, and others will stream HBO, so I don't expect any "Biblical" class stampede...I expect that as soon as Game of Thrones comes back on that if HBO and Dish have not settled, the stampede to Direct TV will be Biblical !!
I'm one of those that will stream @ $15 per while the shows I want are running. I think we are left now with just those people, who must have those shoes and do not have Internet access faster than dial-up. I do not think that is a high number so, no, no Biblical "flood".As I recall the numbers, less than 10% of Dish subscribers were paying for HBO. I also don't think it's going to be such a big thing because it's been quite a while since GOT has been on and yes it's the final season and not the first time after a long hiatus.
Charlie said 2.5 million... or less than 20%.I wonder if there is a breakdown on how many subs Dish had for HBO? Or for that matter, the rest of the main premiums like Showtime and Starz? In other words, can Dish survive not offering HBO/Cinemax in the long run? I feel the ones that still want HBO have either jumped ship for cable or Direct, or like me just sub to the streaming option on Roku/Firestick. I still like Dish.
Did their contract come for renewal yet? That’s the question... are they preparing for a contract renewal? We won’t know if anyone will or will not drop them until a contract expires...Spectrum did not drop Cinemax owned by HBO and crappy AT&T but they did remove it from there Gold package and charge extra for it. ...and of those, only half were actually paying for their HBO service.Charlie said 2.5 million... or less than 20%.
