The NFL Blotter Report

I'll let this article speak for itself
Arian Foster trashes Anheuser-Busch for statement on NFL’s handling of Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice debacles

OK,I can't resist,Anheuser-Busch,where were you when Junior Seau & all of the other former NFL players with brain damage were committing suicide? Why all of a sudden now do you have a conscious?

Not exactly the same thing... the suicides happened outside the scope of football. Who knows what've happened if they were active players.
To be blunt, it would take an active high profile player to commit suicide to force change.

I read Michael Powell's piece, and I agree with it. The league, and anyone who condones the culture of violence, needs to realize that a tolerance for violence generates far more serious consequences than a 15-yard penalty.

I believe that it's valid enough to throw in Anheuser-Busch's face. Also, the suicides were being used to get the NFL to accept responsibility for creating the environment that led to the concussions while they were playing,& the cavalier attitude that they could continue to play in the same game that they received the concussion. At the time the controversy popped up,A-B could have voiced their displeasure that the NFL wasn't accepting responsibility for the consequences of the concussions. I know that it's apples & oranges,& the players DID volunteer to play & accept the consequences,it just seems like A-B is sticking it's finger up in the air to see where the "political wind is blowing" & reacting accordingly. "Brain damage from concussions? Nope. the Redskins' name is offensive? No can do. Domestic violence in the NFL? Ding, ding, ding,I AM OUTRAGED(although why now is the question?)!!!!"

That means that players blocking & players tackling the person with the football ARE VIOLENT/TACKLING IS VIOLENCE. Ice Hockey is just as "violent," but you don't see people attacking it.

NFL HELL: Peterson to still receive full $11.75M salary...Oh the inhumanity of it all.

Minnesota Vikings reverse course, place Adrian Peterson on NFL exempt list ... but star RB to still receive full $11.75M salary*

Running back facing child abuse charges has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities, the team announced Wednesday.

*Are you seething with anger & righteous indignation right now? I guess the Minnesota Vikings dropped the ball again, huh? I'm sure public opinion will get Wilf to waffle on this too.

Adrian Peterson Has A Quietly Terrible Contract, And Cutting Him Would Save The Vikings A Ton Of Money

Because due process has no place here.

This is why I believe that he was spinning the boy around when he was "whipping" him. If the boy had cuts on the front of both legs, that's the only way he could have gotten them.
No, chances are the kid was NOT staying still and turned from side to side ... THIS is how it probably happened.

Yep, that's it, blame the kid......

No,getting hit with a switch stings BAD,you are not going to stand still, you will move to try to get away(which is very hard to do if someone is holding on to you while they're whipping you). My father made us expose our buttocks while he whipped us with a leather belt(& I made a vow that I would NEVER use anything but the palm of my hand if I ever spanked my children),you do not stay in one place, you move to get away.

Doesn't mean it was right, even 'back then'....

I think it was,it certainly worked for me.This timeout bs is worthless for many kids. And,as Rey mentioned just take look at kids today. For an example,I whipped my daughter one time in her life. She had an upcoming math test,I tried to help her study for it the night before, but she basically refused my help, and in a disrespectful way.So I told her,all right you pass this test you can go play with your friends on Saturday, you fail it you get a whipping and no going out.Unfortunately she failed the test,I had to follow through with the discipline.Of course I didn't whip her hard and it broke my heart to have to do it,but she didn't fail another math test.

None. Apparently, my parents cared for my well-being.

I find this comment extremely offensive as I couldn't have asked for better parents. As I said before, not every child should or will get the same type of discipline. The fact that I can count the times I had to get a belt means it didn't happen much but boy am I grateful it did. I have an uncle who is the youngest of 7 kids and he's been in gangs and is a drug user, a freaking waste of life. Out of the 7 he was the only one who never got hit and the guy is a monster. He was a case where stronger punishment was needed but never given.Stronger punishment, NOT ABUSE! You never got hit, that is good because obviously your parents noticed it was not needed. But to put great parents like mine who have given their lives to me so I can be the Man I am today, in the same category as AP is very insulting. He crossed the line to abuse with his 4 year old.

Having said that, I can't and won't ignore the state of our youth today. It's not good, not good at all. I'm sure many of you here have great kids so my comment would not apply to you and yours but unfortunately it can be said about many of our young folks out there today.

Since some of the comments are getting personal in here this will be my last post on the subject. The rest of you try to discuss these topics without jumping on each other since we're not in the pit. Thank you.

I have spanked/whipped my child (very rarely as she is a fantastic child and has a very good sense of right and wrong from our teaching her), and I can assure you that I care as much for her well being as any parent here does. It is pretty offensive IMHO to imply that a parent that uses this as a form of teaching does not just for that reason.

Anyway,we have players now under a cloud due to domestic abuse. It's never right to hit a woman,& I neither know why & obviously I don't condone assaulting an 18 month old child. As I said earlier,of the original four,Hardy's case is the most egregious. I knew that Peterson's case would be the most divisive because of differing opinions/views on child discipline, even though ALL should agree that Peterson did abuse his child.
I will say this,my father whipped me with a belt,& IF I turned out to be a better person,it was in spite of him & not because of him, because his punishment was capricious(you didn't know what would set him off). I remember one day,I can't remember what my sister did to "deserve" getting whipped, but before he punished her(for whatever it was originally),in between her supposed crime,& when he actually did it,she was walking on the neighborhood street in the front of our house with the pet dog we had & the dog got run over & killed. Obviously that was very traumatic to her &,in my opinion, worthy of dispensation of any punishment,but...after removing the dog from the road on my part(I think my father helped) & burying it almost immediately, afterwards my father whipped her anyway."Sorry for your loss, whap, whap, whap, whap." Like I said earlier, because of my father,I vowed never to use anything but the palm of my hand if I ever had to spank my children,so,I guess, that was one positive outcome of my upbringing(that & the fact that I recognized I was being abused & broke the cycle).

I was spanked and slapped as a child, and I'm sure it was warranted. The term 'whipped' is offensive to me and that's what I was reacting to. I still believe firmly that no child should be whipped with a switch for any reason, let alone taking another son's spot in front of a video game.

No offense was intended. I apologize to anyone offended by that remark. I'm done here....

My mother would use a belt. I hated it.
So with my kids, it's never been with anything but an open palm, and never more than 2-3 smacks. Usually stings me worse than them.

You know it's funny, why did the NFL get it right the first time with Ben Roethlisberger, but they're consistently dropping the ball(no pun intended) with today's players accused of domestic abuse. Granted,Ben was accused of rape, but why wouldn't the standards set for him work today for Rice,Peterson,Hardy,McDonald,& now Dwyer? I would very sarcastically(& in obviously poor taste) ask Roger Goodell if his abysmal reaction to this situation is because HE has something to hide(someone ask Jane)?
